The Wall Street Journal Opinion section is looking for a New York-based writer/editor to lead our growing newsletter team and provide regional news commentary that reflects the Journal editorial page's free market philosophy. The goal is to target a new and broader audience particularly interested in region-specific content by delivering high-quality, compelling commentary and insights on developments in the states with a focus on politics and economics. This writer/editor would report to the Editorial Page Editor and partner with the editorial board and editorial features team to produce a twice-weekly newsletter that would also publish as a column, and would generate significant editorial spin-offs. This position requires a professional background in editorial writing and commentary, as well as strong experience with newsletter formats. This role will be a key leader on a small team. As such, we're looking for a high-energy, collaborative team player with demonstrated management experience. This person should be a strong communicator who is excited about partnering with colleagues across the Opinion section, including editorial board members, features editors, data, SEO, social media, etc. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable reacting to data and audience feedback to produce content that resonates with current and new audiences. Applicants should include a cover letter and resume.
