The Opportunity:
The Senior Editor is a highly skilled independent contributor who confidently manages assigned work in multiple brands or large accounts across mainly consumer workstreams. The Senior Editor is in the process of learning to manage HCP work and increasingly taking the lead on HCP assignments, including high-science and data-heavy projects. While capable of supporting launch brands, they do so with periodic check-ins and strategic guidance from a lead editor or manager. The Senior Editor ensures all content meets brand and stylistic standards and considers regulatory standards as well as collaborates and communicates effectively across teams to uphold editorial excellence. This role requires expertise in the English language, sound editorial judgment, and decision-making with minimal oversight.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Writing, Health Sciences, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.
• 2+ years of editorial experience, preferably in healthcare marketing, pharmaceutical advertising, or medical communications.
• Proven ability to make independent editorial decisions and manage complex projects with minimal oversight.
• Proficient in AMA editorial style.
• Strong understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Exercise independent editorial judgment across assigned brands, making decisions that uphold quality, consistency, and compliance.
• Manage the editorial needs of multiple large accounts with minimal supervision.
• Own consumer workstreams end-to-end, applying brand voice and style with confidence.
• Begin working on, and possibly leading, HCP work, including complex scientific content, with guidance as needed.
• Perform substantive copyediting to enhance clarity, flow, and scientific integrity.
• Ensure compliance with AMA style and brand-specific guidelines.
• Fact-check claims and references against source materials.
• Perform check changes reviews on layouts and final materials for typographic and formatting accuracy.
• In collaboration with Copy, help maintain and update brand editorial style guides.
• Collaborate with copywriters, project managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely and thorough editorial reviews.
• Assist with any brand-specific editorial needs.
