About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson is hiring a full time Sr. Echocardiographer in Charlottesville, VA. The noninvasive team at Sentara Martha Jefferson includes RN’s, Cardiovascular Technicians, and Sonographers seeing an average of 7 patients a day both inpatient and outpatient. The Echocardiographer must live within a 30-minute drive of the hospital for call purposes. Hours: Monday – Friday, day shift, with call every 4th week to include the weekend. Either 7 to 330p or 8a to 430p. 15,000 Sign on Bonus available for qualified candidates. The Senior Echocardiographer is responsible for performing and analyzing advanced echocardiographic procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, to assess cardiac function and pathology. They collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to provide accurate diagnostic information, mentor junior staff, and ensure the highest standards of patient care. The role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards while adhering to safety protocols and ethical guidelines. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for training staff, managing schedules, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required with experience and certification required, Associate Degree preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program (or equivalent education) in accordance with IAC Guidelines.
  • Candidates must have at least one of the four certifications (RDCS, RCCS, RCS, or ACS)
  • BLS required
  • 3 years of experience required.
  • adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo required
  • Communication with patients and providers required
  • provide accurate diagnostic information required
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards required
  • Echocardiographer must live within a 30-minute drive of the hospital for call purposes
