Grey Matters Defense Solutions sets itself apart with a startup-like corporate environment that values flexibility and collaboration, offering flexible schedules, hybrid work options, and frequent team events and company outings. By integrating the skills of subject matter experts, analysts, software engineers, and data scientists, Grey Matters Defense Solutions delivers unique artificial intelligence algorithms and applications, positioning itself as a leader in innovative solutions for defense and intelligence.

Requirements

  • 6+ years professional experience in DSP engineering, SIGINT/technical signal analysis, RF exploitation, or closely related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics).
  • Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance and current polygraph (must be in-scope per customer requirements).
  • Demonstrated experience implementing DSP algorithms in software (C/C++ and/or Python).
  • Demonstrated CUDA development experience including kernel implementation and performance optimization.
  • Strong fundamentals in signals and systems (sampling, filtering, FFT/spectral analysis, detection/estimation).
  • Experience working with complex IQ data and RF/signal processing toolchains.
  • Ability to translate operational/analytic needs into technical requirements and reliable implementations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant STEM field.
  • Experience with real-time SDR ecosystems (USRP/Ettus, SoapySDR, GNU Radio) and/or RF front-end integration.
  • Experience with cuFFT and GPU-centric optimization patterns (streams, pinned memory, kernel fusion, overlap compute/I/O).
  • Experience with multichannel processing (PFB/channelizers, array processing, DF/beamforming concepts).
  • Familiarity with basic ML-based signal classification workflows and dataset curation.
  • Linux performance tuning; containerized deployments; reproducible builds.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement DSP algorithms (e.g., channelization/PFB, detection, synchronization, estimation, demodulation/decoding, feature extraction).
  • Design and validate processing chains under real-world RF impairments (CFO/phase noise, multipath, interference, IQ imbalance).
  • Establish quantitative validation (Pd/Pfa, BER/EVM where applicable) using test vectors and field-captured IQ.
  • Perform technical signal analysis to characterize signals of interest and derive actionable observables.
  • Develop signal characterization artifacts (parameters, fingerprints, modulation traits, timing/structure) and automate repeatable workflows.
  • Collaborate with operators/analysts to refine requirements and iterate quickly against mission needs.
  • Implement and optimize GPU-accelerated components (FFT pipelines, filter banks, correlation/matched filtering, detection/thresholding, beamforming primitives where applicable).
  • Profile and tune performance using NVIDIA tooling (e.g., Nsight) focusing on memory behavior, occupancy, launch overhead, and concurrency.
  • Integrate CUDA into production pipelines (C/C++ and/or Python bindings), including multi-stream and multi-GPU approaches when required.
  • Build throughput/latency benchmarks and performance regression tests.
  • Deliver maintainable, modular code with unit/integration tests and CI-friendly builds.
  • Integrate with streaming and batch processing systems (SDR front ends, file processing, message buses).
  • Document algorithms, interfaces, data formats, and operational constraints suitable for cleared environments.
