Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Drainage Engineer to join our team growing team in Salt Lake City and lead critical infrastructure design projects in Utah and across the nation . Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and typically 8+ years of related work experience.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Certification and ability to obtain a PE license .
  • Experience in storm drain and water quality design directly related to transportation projects .
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D .
  • Ability to work in the Salt Lake office a minimum of two to three days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CAD and other software associated with transportation design (Bentley and/or Autodesk) .
  • Knowledge of standard DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic, and hydrology standards and practices .
  • Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools, including (but not limited to): SWMM Modeling (e.g., EPA‑SWMM, XP‑SWMM, InfraWorks, PC‑SWMM) StormCAD HEC‑RAS HEC‑HMS ArcMap
  • Strong communication skills , including the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience writing drainage reports for transportation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading drainage design
  • Experience working on Alternative Project Delivery (design‑build, CM/GC) projects .
  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibility for technical quality, schedule, and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Technical design & analysis Prepare hydraulic and hydrologic calculations for storm drains, detention facilities, culverts, water quality (BMP/LID) features, and other related items.
  • Develop storm drain plans, profiles, details, and specifications .
  • Apply standard DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic, and hydrology standards and practices in your designs
  • Leadership & coordination Work in a team environment to help deliver transportation infrastructure design projects.
  • Provide daily task management of junior engineers, assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff in standard engineering practices and methodologies, including CAD modeling software for drainage and stormwater engineering .
  • Coordinate with counterparts in other design disciplines (roadway, structural, utilities, etc.) to develop comprehensive, integrated project designs .
  • Lead the design effort for local projects as well as segments of larger alternative project delivery projects .
  • Quality, client interface & business support Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standard practices to ensure accurate, constructible designs.
  • Interface with clients to address review comments, design issues, and constraints , acting as a trusted technical resource.
  • Support and participate in proposal and business development activities , bringing forward innovative drainage and stormwater solutions.
