About The Position

Resource Furniture, the leader in high-end Italian-made transforming furniture and space-optimizing design, is seeking a Senior Drafter to join our New York Showroom team. This is a hands-on role for a technically strong drafter who understands the real-world implications of design work — someone who has produced detailed drawings for media units, storage systems, closets, cabinetry, or other built-in millwork, and has worked closely with sales & design consultants, installers, site conditions, and project teams. You’ll be a critical technical partner to our Sales & Design Consultants (both Retail and Contract), creating accurate, buildable, and presentation-ready designs that support client confidence, prevent costly errors, and ensure seamless execution.

Requirements

  • 7+ years drafting/design experience with custom or semi-custom built-ins (closets, cabinetry, storage systems, media units, etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape or other rendering software
  • Strong knowledge of architectural conditions and installation implications
  • Proven track record of producing highly accurate, buildable drawings
  • Revit

  • Experience in high-end furniture / interior design showroom environment
  • Experience with cabinetry configurator

Responsibilities

  • Produce precise 2D floorplans and elevations that reflect site realities
  • Create high-quality 3D renderings and proposal visuals to support the sales process
  • Develop furniture configurations that account for clearances, wall/ceiling conditions, electrical elevations, wall blocking, and access points.
  • Develop mastery of proprietary configurators
  • Anticipate installation challenges and flag issues early (tolerances, uneven walls, unlevel floors, clearance conflicts, site obstructions)
  • Participate in occasional site visits and attend installations to validate measurements and confirm feasibility
  • Collaborate with installers/project managers to ensure designs translate smoothly into real-world outcomes
  • Verify all drawings and proposals before order placement
  • Confirm configuration details: measurements, finishes, and constraints
  • Review order confirmations; ensure alignment with approved client specs and design proposals
  • Partner closely with Sales, Project Management, Production, and Purchasing through the full lifecycle of the project
  • Create support documentation, tear sheets, and technical files for in web and internal use in collaboration with the Marketing Department
  • Assume additional tasks, as needed or assigned, to Support Sales, Marketing, Production, and Leadership
  • Mentor junior team member and contribute to best practices, quality control, and documentation standards
  • Help improve workflows for drawing standards, templates, and proposal deliverables
