About The Position

The Senior IT Documentation Specialist is a pivotal member of the Product Communication and Training team, tasked with overseeing and delivering all customer-facing product documentation for a specific product line. This role serves as a crucial liaison between the overall product team and the technical communicators dedicated to the product. The Senior Specialist acts as the unified voice for the technical communications group, ensuring that the impact of product documentation is considered in every release or feature enhancement. They establish clear expectations for the delivery of documentation sets, detailing what each set includes and ensuring adherence to corporate and departmental guidelines. In this capacity, the Senior IT Documentation Specialist is responsible for the continuous improvement of all documentation deliverables, ensuring they are delivered on time and free of errors. The role involves developing, writing, and maintaining technical product documentation, along with supporting materials related to software packages. The Specialist will create and maintain documentation plans to communicate with the product team about which documents will be delivered for each release, as well as project plans to ensure timely completion of all documents. Additionally, the Senior Specialist will represent the technical communications team in project meetings, serving as the point of contact for product-level issues related to documentation. They will participate in feature reviews to assess the impact on product documentation and will act as a resource by assigning writers to feature teams as needed. The role also includes attending meetings on new feature development to provide input on user interface design, collaborating with the Product Communication and Training team, and suggesting improvements to documentation and processes as they arise. The Specialist will apply Agile practices to enhance writing delivery and will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the product, ensuring quality through participation in the peer review process and mentoring new technical communication hires.
