About The Position

This position will offer you the opportunity to work in a project team environment and lead other engineers and designers using your knowledge of engineering and design practices. You will prepare and review construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV), structural analyses, short circuit and voltage drop calculations, bill of material, cost estimates, and traffic control plans and/or permit drawings. You will work on project teams with other engineers involved in the design of new upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities, participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews, and work directly with the client representative to ask and answer questions related to the distribution design. Additionally, you will analyze, design or review priority feeds, support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components, plan modifications to the system, and design and oversee complex tasks. You will develop work packages and provide construction support when necessary, travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Five or more years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience
  • Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application
  • Familiar with applicable codes, standards, and distribution software programs including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD
  • Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV)
  • PLS CADD experience, highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead a project team

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering Registration or able to obtain a PE within 5 years
  • Experience in utility distribution inspections and/or construction
  • Familiarity with various distribution design/analysis software
  • Familiarity with GIS software

Responsibilities
