About The Position

Senior Distinguished Engineer (Remote-Eligible) As a Sr. Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, you will be a part of a community of technical experts working to define the future of banking in the cloud. The Senior Distinguished Engineer will operate end to end to enable Capital One credit cards on the next generation credit card processing system. You will play a key role in designing and implementing solutions and platforms that power our business from credit card issuance to settlements. You will help drive innovation and shape the future of credit card processing and unlock value for Capital One customers. You will work alongside our talented team of developers, machine learning experts, product managers and people leaders. Our Distinguished Engineers are leading experts in their domains, helping devise practical and reusable solutions to complex problems. Distinguished Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization. Building, scaling, and modernizing business critical applications across a wide range of domains. From legacy to modern system architectures, you have delivered massive business results and is able to adapt to changing technology and effectively evaluate tradeoffs Work with a vast range of other technical topics, including backend development, DevOps, Microservices, containers, mobile development, web development. Focused on Users: You always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Capital One consumers or internal engineers before architecting a solution.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
At least 9 years of experience in General software Software engineering and solution architecture
At least 9 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
10+ years of experience in coding with commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift
10+ years of experience in full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
5+ years of experience with public or private cloud technologies
