About The Position

The Royal Group, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, is currently seeking a Senior Structural Designer – Retail Division to support our Marlton, NJ facility. The Structural Designer is responsible for delivering complex, retail-ready structural solutions while fostering alignment and collaboration across TRG's multi-site network. This role serves as a vital link between local design execution and the Retal Division ensuring consistency, clarity, and operational excellence as programs scale. The Senior Structural Designer leverages integrated expertise in retail environments, customer expectations, manufacturing realities, and internal workflows by managing programs from concept through production, and facilitating communication within departments and locations, this role transforms strategic concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions that excel in retail settings. Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of structural design experience, preferably focused on retail displays, POP, or packaging.
  • Advanced proficiency in ArtiosCAD and structural design for retail applications.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and how design decisions impact cost, labor, freight, and execution.
  • Experience working within a multi-site or networked organization preferred.
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex projects and multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design intent and partner effectively across teams.
  • Detail-oriented, process-minded, and comfortable operating in a rapid-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in structural design and development of retail display solutions, including PDQs, pallet programs, endcaps, in-line trays, sidekicks, floor displays, and semi-permanent fixtures.
  • Oversee complex retail programs from early concept through production release, ensuring all designs meet structural, cost, and scalability requirements at a senior level.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of corrugated, fiberboard, and alternative materials to solve merchandising, durability, and operational problems.
  • Design with a strong understanding of retailer requirements, store environments, freight considerations, assembly constraints, and shopper interaction.
  • Balance creativity with practicality, ensuring designs achieve brand objectives and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Serve as the principal senior design authority within the Marlton office, driving coordination with other TRG design, estimating, project management, and manufacturing teams.
  • Serve as a reliable liaison between Marlton and other facilities, ensuring design intent, documentation, and standards are communicated clearly.
  • Participate in cross-location design reviews, feedback loops, and working sessions to promote consistency and common best practices.
  • Support leadership initiatives focused on standardization, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration across the Retail Division.
  • Identify gaps between design, estimating, and production, and proactively contribute solutions.
  • Ensure all structural design deliverables are complete, accurate, and consistent with Retail Division requirements, including: CAD files Bills of Materials (BOMs) Assembly instructions (written and/or video) Supporting production documentation
  • Support QA and design-vetting processes by identifying risks in advance and validating designs prior to release.
  • Uphold high documentation standards to enable downstream teams to operate efficiently and confidently.
  • Contribute to the active refinement of workflows, templates, and structural design standards used across the network.
  • Work closely with Account Management, Project Management, Estimating, and Manufacturing to secure alignment from intake through execution.
  • Deliver expert technical guidance and senior-level design rationale to internal stakeholders to enable well-informed decision-making across teams.
  • Support estimating accuracy by ensuring designs are production-ready and clearly defined.
  • Resolve high-level challenges arising during quoting, production, or fulfillment with senior expertise.
  • Mentor and support intermediate and junior team members within the Marlton office.
  • Act as the senior authority for design challenges, ideation, and technical problem-solving, actively guiding discussions.
  • Share best practices, lessons learned, and retail insights to help elevate the wider team.
  • Support leadership efforts related to training, cross-training, and talent development.
