About The Position

The Senior Director of Accounting Advisory is a critical leadership role at BAO Consulting Group. This individual is a recognized expert in technical accounting and financial reporting, a rainmaker in the middle-market advisory space, and a culture-builder who is invested in growing BAO into the preeminent boutique CFO advisory firm in the country. You will work directly with the President and Managing Directors to shape our service offerings, grow the team, and elevate our firm profile.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; advanced degree preferred; CPA required
• 13–15+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, advisory, or finance consulting; a combination is preferred
• National-level technical accounting expertise with a reputation in the professional community
• Demonstrated history of building and managing a client portfolio with revenue ownership
• Proven people leadership: experience building and scaling teams of 5–20+ professionals
• Executive presence and board-level communication capability

Nice To Haves

• Former Big 4 Director, Senior Manager, or Partner-track professional
• Deep connectivity to private equity ecosystems in Texas or nationally
• Experience leading a practice, service line, or market within a boutique or regional consulting firm

Responsibilities

• Serve as practice leader for Accounting Advisory, overseeing all service delivery quality, methodology, and team performance
• Maintain and grow a book of business through deep client relationships, referral networks, and market visibility
• Lead the most complex, high-stakes engagements — restatements, going concern, SEC matters, distressed situations, M&A accounting — personally
• Partner with BAO's CGO and President on market strategy, service line expansion, and new offering development
• Represent BAO externally through speaking engagements, thought leadership, and industry networks
• Own talent strategy for the practice: recruit top talent, design career paths, and build a world-class team
• Drive pricing strategy, margin improvement, and practice P&L performance
• Mentor and develop Directors, Senior Managers, and Managers into the next generation of BAO leaders
