We are seeking a strategic and innovative individual to lead the Wholesale & Specialty Product Portfolio, driving technology strategy, product innovation, and operational excellence across Property, Casualty, Professional, and Binding lines. Reporting to Product Solutions & Services leader, this role delivers business value through technology, optimizes speed to market, and ensures a seamless experience for Markel employees and partners. The ideal candidate possesses deep insurance expertise, financial acumen, and a passion for digital transformation and customer-centricity.

Requirements

  • Deep market and regulatory knowledge in insurance (commercial lines, specialty).
  • Advanced strategic, analytical, and financial skills.
  • Leadership in cross-functional and matrixed environments.
  • Expertise in change management, transformation, and digital technologies.
  • Customer experience orientation.
  • Strong influence and stakeholder management at executive levels.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in Business, Insurance, Technology, or related field.
  • Advanced certifications (PMP, Agile, Lean Portfolio Management, CPCU).
  • 12+ years in insurance product management, delivery, or related leadership roles.
  • Proven success in leading large-scale transformation and innovation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute product portfolio strategy, aligning technology solutions with business objectives and market trends.
  • Oversee full product lifecycle management: ideation, development, launch, optimization, and retirement.
  • Lead strategic investment planning, architecture engagement, and risk management for the portfolio.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, pricing strategy, and risk mitigation across all product lines.
  • Champion customer experience, leveraging data analytics and feedback to optimize product value.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with underwriting, claims, sales, marketing, finance, and IT.
  • Integrate Agile and Lean practices to accelerate delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Manage product delivery budgeting and investment prioritization.
  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards and reporting for KPIs, OKRs, and ROI.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing, diverse team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
