About The Position

The Senior Director of Software Development – Cybersecurity is a key technology leader responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and innovative software systems across the enterprise. This role plays a central part in advancing the company’s transition from a device-centric security model to a consumer-centric, protection-first strategy. The organization’s R&D strategy is anchored around three initial core protection pillars: Personal (Virtual) Security – Identity protection, persona privacy, and digital safety controls Web Security – Secure and threat-aware browsing experiences across consumer contexts Device Security – Enhanced protection for desktop and mobile operating environments Each pillar is staffed by dedicated engineering teams responsible for delivering end-to-end security capabilities and maintaining an ongoing protection roadmap. These roadmaps evolve continuously to meet emerging threats and ensure that users always feel confidently protected. The Web Security pillar is a strategic focus area and critical growth domain for this role. As AI-driven threats become increasingly dynamic and sophisticated, the Senior Director will guide teams in developing proactive, adaptive, and data-informed protection mechanisms that secure access to web experiences and digital interactions. This is a Hybrid position located in Frisco, TX. You will be required to be onsite on an as-needed basis, typically 1 to 6 times a month. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to one of the two locations and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software development leadership experience, including responsibility for security-focused or safety-critical systems.
  • Proven success managing multi-site or distributed engineering teams in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of web threat models, browser security, identity protection, and cloud-connected security architectures.
  • Experience integrating AI and automation to enhance detection, threat response, and development efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, leadership presence, and the ability to influence at executive and engineering levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership in Web Security, Safe Browsing, or Identity Protection domains.
  • Industry certification in system level security from the perspective of a CISO.
  • Experience integrating security intelligence into consumer-facing protection products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizations through strategic transformation or infrastructure modernization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Lead the engineering direction for one or more protection pillars, with immediate emphasis on Web Security innovation and capability expansion.
  • Translate the organization’s shift to consumer-centric protection into actionable development strategies and product execution plans.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, threat intelligence, research teams, and executive stakeholders to shape long-term protection roadmaps.
  • Software Development & Delivery: Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring secure design, high performance, and reliable delivery.
  • Guide the architecture and development of new protection services, leveraging emerging technologies, modern cloud-native patterns, and AI-assisted detection capabilities.
  • Ensure CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and release processes support high-velocity, secure, and high-quality delivery.
  • Cybersecurity Innovation & Threat Response: Actively evaluate emerging cybersecurity threats, particularly advanced AI-assisted attacks, phishing ecosystems, unsafe browsing patterns, exploit kits, and malicious scripting techniques.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of protection capabilities, ensuring solutions anticipate and respond to evolving attacker behaviors.
  • Establish strong integration between development teams and internal research / threat intelligence to maintain real-time protection relevancy.
  • Team & Culture Leadership: Lead and grow geographically distributed engineering teams across multiple specialized protection domains.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement, encouraging teams to challenge assumptions and pursue bold solutions.
  • Ensure teams remain focused on delivering impactful protection outcomes, rather than primarily supporting operational tasks such as A/B testing or messaging.
  • Operational Excellence: Define and track KPIs for system reliability, security posture, product impact, and roadmap execution.
  • Manage organizational capacity planning, talent development, and vendor or platform partnerships.
  • Support a flexible organizational structure that can expand to additional protection pillars as customer needs evolve.
