About The Position

As the Senior Director of Experience Strategy for Merchandising, Replenishment, and Product Development, you will spearhead the strategic transformation of how home office associates engage with the tools, processes, and workflows that power Sam's Club's merchandising and replenishment operations. You will lead a team of Directors who guide cross-functional Experience Squads (business, product, engineering, and experience strategy), ensuring their work is aligned to a unified, future-focused vision. Your success will be defined by your ability to: Embed a transformational vision at the intersection of business strategy and associate needs. Translate high-stakes design thinking into actionable business strategy. Align multiple squads around a cohesive, long-term experience direction. Deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, adoption, and associate satisfaction. This role is a critical driver of Sam's Club's membership-driven advantage, ensuring that the operational backbone of merchandising evolves to meet the scale, speed, and innovation our members expect.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 7 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
  • 9 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area with 4 years' supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Design certification (for example, IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate).
  • Driving product development in a user experience area.
  • Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area.
  • Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare).
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver experience strategy for home office associates aligned with Sam's Club's broader member and associate goals.
  • Establish a replenishment and merchandising experience strategy within the first 90 days.
  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in associate efficiency, tool adoption, or satisfaction based on this strategy within 12 months.
  • Manage and coach a team of Directors of Experience Strategy, ensuring alignment to the overall strategy.
  • Ensure all squads are delivering validated solutions that address high-priority goals within the first year.
  • Facilitate strategic workshops with senior leaders and ensure squads apply design thinking rituals in their initiatives.
  • Implement a research-to-roadmap process ensuring all squad initiatives are grounded in associate and business insights within 6 months.
  • Oversee execution of squad portfolio projects, ensuring on-time delivery, in-club pilots, and scaled rollouts.
