If so, we invite you to consider the Senior Director of Surgical and Interventional Services at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and the North Puget Sound Service Area. The Role Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, North Puget Sound, the Senior Director of Surgical and Interventional Services provides leadership oversight of surgical and interventional service operations across the North Puget Sound Service Area, with primary oversight of the two acute campuses: Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE) and Swedish Edmonds (SED). The Senior Director is responsible for systemically engaging service ‑ area, divisional, system, and service line/clinical institute leadership, and for developing strong relationships with physicians across Providence Swedish, facility medical staff, and community medical groups. This role ensures support of the North Puget Sound Service Area strategic plan through highly reliable care and appropriate utilization of resources. With a constant focus on whole ‑ person care, quality, caregivers, and patient safety, the Senior Director maintains standards and systems for care delivery across the service area. About Service Locations Providence Regional Medical Center Everett: Two ‑ campus regional referral center with 595 licensed beds, a Level II trauma center, 79 ‑ bed emergency department, and a teaching institute. Swedish Edmonds: 217 licensed beds and a Level VI trauma center. North Puget Sound Service Area: Broad medical expertise including Heart & Vascular, Cancer, Neurosciences, Orthopedics, Women & Children’s, Digestive Health, Behavioral Health, Emergency and Trauma, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Management, or Health Administration
  • Washington Registered Nurse License (upon hire)
  • 5+ years of operational leadership in surgical and/or interventional services
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience in a complex, multi‑site health system
  • Progressive leadership with strong interdisciplinary communication and participative change management
  • In‑depth, current knowledge of clinical practice and processes
  • Knowledge of organizational behavior; management systems; nursing standards; clinical guidelines; regulations and ethics; healthcare economics; outcomes measurement; and fiscal management
  • Ability to travel throughout the region and work varying hours as needed
  • Ability to clearly articulate the Providence Swedish mission and vision
  • Working knowledge of labor contracts and union environments
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement new service delivery models
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship‑building skills
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi‑entity, matrixed environment

Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership Develop and manage an integrated plan for areas of responsibility that implements the North Puget Sound Service Area’s strategic and operational plan, with established key performance indicators. Monitor, track, and update plans to evaluate effectiveness and support data driven decisions aligned with changing needs and strategic opportunities.
  • Growth & Service Line Development Identify opportunities for growth and expansion in service lines; analyze market trends, financial data, and operational metrics to develop business cases for new initiatives and investments.
  • Financial Stewardship Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of areas of responsibility. Prepare capital equipment and operating budgets in collaboration with service area executives. Monitor operating statements to ensure budgetary goals are met and deviations are understood and addressed.
  • Clinical Integration & Physician Partnership Collaborate with the Chair of Surgery and/or Medical Directors, medical staff, and core leaders to promote coordinated patient care and improved interdisciplinary communication. Lead standardization of scheduling, staffing, workflow optimization, and development of common standards, protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • People Leadership & Development Provide staff development through selection, coaching, and mentoring of core leaders and caregivers to foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning aligned with organizational values.
  • Quality, Safety & Regulatory Readiness Work closely with quality and accreditation leaders to maintain regulatory readiness for inspections by WA DOH, DNV, Joint Commission, OSHA, and others. Partner on quality improvement initiatives and with Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness leaders to strengthen readiness.
  • Enterprise Engagement Represent service area leadership on divisional and system committees and serve as an operational expert as needed. Rotate as administrator on call. Promote a culture of excellence and safety that continuously improves quality of care and top decile patient experience.
