About The Position

Monumental Sports & Entertainment is one of the largest integrated sports and entertainment platforms in the United States, owning and operating professional sports teams, media assets, and Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The Senior Director, Strategic Finance Supports the organization’s financial planning, forecasting, and performance management functions. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Controller, this role is responsible for developing the processes, models, and insights that support executive decision-making, resource allocation, and long-term strategic planning. The Senior Director, Strategic Finance will serve as a strategic finance partner to leadership across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Experience at a leading investment bank or management consulting firm, followed by work at a complex, scaled operating company. Experience in sports and entertainment is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling processes and teams.
  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for senior leadership.
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor high-performing teams.
  • Strategic, analytical problem solver with strong business judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating plan, long-range financial plan, and rolling forecasts.
  • Build integrated financial models that connect business strategy, operational drivers, and financial outcomes.
  • Establish consistent planning processes, governance, and reporting standards across the organization.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to aid executive decision-making, capital allocation, and critical initiatives.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews, identifying risks, opportunities, and key performance drivers.
  • Partner with business and operational leaders to evaluate investments, prioritize resources, and improve financial performance.
  • Develop scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to advise strategic decisions.
  • Implement and optimize financial planning tools and reporting systems.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team focused on analytics and strong business partnership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
