About The Position

HCA Healthcare is seeking a visionary Sr. Director of Software Engineering to lead our next-generation software development initiatives, with a strategic focus on artificial intelligence (AI) integration throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This senior leader will play a critical role in shaping and executing our digital transformation agenda, driving engineering excellence, and delivering AI-enabled solutions that improve patient care, clinician experience, and operational efficiency. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, people leadership, and innovation mindset, with a strong track record of deploying AI and automation at scale in complex enterprise environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred.
• Three or more years in a leadership role.
• Ten or more years experience in software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Drive the adoption of AI-enabled tools and techniques across the SDLC (e.g., intelligent code generation, test automation, code review, incident prediction).
• Partner with business and technology executives to align engineering initiatives with HCA Healthcare's digital transformation goals.
• Champion the adoption of AI/ML, DevSecOps, and agile practices across software teams.
• Partner with architecture, DevOps, platform, and data teams to integrate AI into engineering workflows.
• Collaborate with data science and AI/ML teams to deliver scalable, secure, and performant AI solutions.
• Collaborate to establish standards and best practices for AI-assisted software engineering.
• Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams, including managers and senior engineers.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, accountability, and technical excellence.
• Develop hiring strategies to attract top talent in AI driven software engineering.
• Drive proof-of-concept initiatives and pilots for emerging technologies such as generative AI, autonomous testing, and LLMs.
• Evaluate and introduce modern engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI pair programming, AI observability platforms).
• Act as a change agent to accelerate cultural and technological adoption of AI.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
