About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the vision, architecture, and execution of an AI-enabled sales platform designed to improve advertiser engagement, operational efficiency, and revenue impact. Join the Advertising Technology organization at Walmart Global Tech, where we build large-scale engineering platforms that help advertisers grow their business while delivering meaningful value to millions of customers. This role leads the engineering organization responsible for building systems that translate data and intelligence into actionable workflows for sales teams. The platform integrates generative AI capabilities, intelligent automation, and large-scale data infrastructure to support AI-enabled sales tooling, scalable engagement capabilities, and measurement systems that provide visibility into sales effectiveness. The Senior Director will guide engineering teams in designing and operating high-performance, reliable, and scalable distributed systems while partnering closely with Product, Sales, and Business teams. Through strong technical leadership and operational excellence, this role will help establish a modern AI-enabled sales ecosystem that empowers teams to operate efficiently and deliver better outcomes for advertisers. Strategic Leadership Define and execute the multi-year technical and organizational strategy for the AI-enabled sales platform. Partner with Product and Business leadership to align platform capabilities with organizational goals. Lead and grow multiple engineering teams, ensuring the platform continuously evolves to improve advertiser engagement and business impact. Technical Excellence Oversee architecture of large-scale distributed systems integrating AI capabilities and automation. Build scalable platform services, orchestration layers, and high-throughput data pipelines that enable efficient workflows. Ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity, while promoting strong engineering practices across teams. Operational Execution Establish engineering rigor with monitoring, reliability standards, and performance optimization. Drive development of measurement capabilities and partner with infrastructure teams to ensure scalability, efficiency, and timely delivery of high-impact platform initiatives. Team & Culture Build and mentor high-performing teams. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration. Serve as a visible technology leader representing the organization’s engineering vision.

Requirements

  • Technical Depth in Platform Engineering Deep expertise designing and operating large-scale distributed systems, data platforms, and high-throughput applications that power business-critical workflows.
  • Strategic Platform Vision Ability to translate complex business goals into scalable technical architectures and multi-year platform roadmaps.
  • AI-Enabled Systems Experience building platforms that integrate generative AI capabilities and intelligent automation into real-world business applications.
  • Leadership & Talent Development Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations while developing strong technical leaders.
  • Operational Excellence Strong focus on reliability, performance optimization, and engineering best practices while delivering high-impact platform initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 9 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 4 years’ supervisory experience.
