About The Position

Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design is home to more than 4,400 students and nearly 150 faculty members. The college serves as a leading hub for engineering and designed environment education and research in San Antonio. Students gain hands-on experience through internships, project-based learning, study abroad programs, and community partnerships. These opportunities help students work across disciplines and understand how to bring ideas to life. The college also provides a 17,000 square foot MakerSpace that is open around the clock, giving students a supportive setting to explore, design, test, and innovate at their own pace. Reporting to the Dean of the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design and the Senior Associate Vice President for Development, the Senior Director or Director of Development is a member of both the college's leadership team and the Office of Development within Advancement & Alumni Engagement. The Senior Director or Director of Development provides professional skills in planning and executing all aspects of fundraising for securing gifts in the area of specialty, such as a college or functional unit. This position is responsible for planning, overseeing, and evaluating fundraising programs in assigned area of the University.

Requirements

  • Director of Development
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
  • Up to two years of additional education may be substituted for experience on a one for one basis.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
  • Senior Director of Development
  • Seven years of relevant experience. Up to two years of additional education may be substituted for experience on a one for one basis.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all organizational levels and with external constituencies.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain donor relationships and secure major gifts at the five-figure level or higher.
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated success initiating contact with new prospects and implementing comprehensive cultivation and solicitation strategies to secure major gifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Planned Giving experience.
  • Capital campaign experience.
  • Four years supervisory experience with demonstrated success.
  • Proven track record of building excellent donor relationships and closing six+ figure gifts.
  • Experience in leading a team involving different phases of advancement including communications, special events and alumni relations.
  • Experience working with advisory council members and other volunteers.
  • Familiar with San Antonio business and philanthropic communities.
  • Knowledge of development information systems, preferably Raisers Edge and NXT.

Responsibilities

  • Meets or exceeds established visit and fundraising goals.
  • Manages a personal portfolio of major gift prospects, qualifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects for gifts of $25,000 or more. Meets or exceeds established visit and fundraising goals.
  • Leads discovery and pipeline development efforts, implementing strategic engagement and moves management activities with major gift donors and prospects.
  • Contributes to internal and external communications, public relations, and marketing efforts for the assigned college or unit, including website content, publications, and fundraising materials.
  • Oversees all aspects of gift processing, acknowledgment, and reporting for the assigned college or unit to ensure accuracy and compliance with university procedures.
  • Engages and collaborates with college or unit volunteer leaders, advisory groups, and key stakeholders to advance fundraising and engagement priorities; provide guidance on development-related strategies and initiatives.
  • Provides direct supervision of assigned development staff and general supervision to staff under the direction of the Dean.
  • Prepares the Dean, administrators, and volunteers for development activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
