The Senior Director of Finance is responsible for YWCA Tulsa’s long-term financial health and growth. They establish strategies that will ensure financial stability, oversee accounting operations, produce accurate financial reports for the Board of Directors and Leadership Teams within the organization, and improve or change current practices to increase efficiency. Their responsibilities include supervising financial operations, managing and providing ongoing training to accounting personnel, and conducting the weekly and monthly financial evaluation. Also, the Senior Director will initiate budgets, allocate funds for capital projects, create annual financial plans and projections, as well as conduct an evaluation of financial risks and benefits on a business enterprise.

  • Serves as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance to support YWCA Tulsa’s mission and long-term sustainability.
  • Oversee and optimize financial systems (currently Sage), ensuring efficient workflows, accurate data, and appropriate internal controls.
  • Set targets for and supervise all accounting and finance personnel (management accountants, internal auditors etc.)
  • Supports leadership continuity by training and mentoring finance staff.
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly and annual basis. Provide financial statements and cash flow projections for use by the CEO and leadership team members.
  • Provides regular financial reports and analysis to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and Endowment Committee, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Oversee all financial activities for government grants, including invoicing, budget preparation, and tracking to ensure we are properly spending down restricted funding in accordance with principals set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
  • Serve as a liaison to Finance Committee and Endowment Committee; attend Board of Director meetings. Serve as YWCA representative as requested at various functions. Attend required YWCA Tulsa, staff, and department meetings.
  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
  • Develops and maintains cash flow forecasting for a $5M+ operating budget to ensure liquidity and support organizational growth.
  • Partners with CEO and senior leadership in multi-year financial planning to align resources with strategic priorities.
  • Monitors organizational financial risk and recommends mitigation strategies, including insurance coverage, investment policies, and reserve management.
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
  • Participate in developing new and existing business services; specifically, to provide assistance to the CEO and Strategic Leadership team in the drafting of programmatic (and prospective) budgets and determining cost effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Work with leadership to prepare an annual budget for the CEO to present to the Board of Directors. Oversee timeline and assistance to Directors and Managers for drafting annual budget.
  • Prepare budgets for grant proposals, and ensure the organization is tracking restricted funding and spending it in accordance with listed restrictions.
  • Oversee all audit and internal control operations.
  • Direct the Accounting Department procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to provide adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Ensures compliance with federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200) across multiple federal awards, including financial reporting, drawdowns, subrecipient monitoring, and cost allocation.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, funding reports to agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
  • Develop and maintain systems for internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee federal awards and programs. Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors insuring all audit matters identified by the independent auditors are appropriate resolved on a timely basis and that all 501(c)3 compliance requirements are met, including the preparation and filing of the Form 990 and the preparation of the annual financial statements are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state, and other supplementary schedules and information.
  • Work with CEO and leadership team to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, contractual, and program requirements.
  • Monitor banking activities of the organization ensuring that cash balances are reconciled on a timely basis Provide cash flow projections to the CEO on a regular basis and ensure a strategy to help us meet payables and cash flow needs in a timely manner.
  • Strong working knowledge of non-profit accounting functions and principals, including the ability to develop and implement financial management programs and policies in accordance with GAAP, and have ability to analyze financial information.
  • Ability to manage, assign, and delegate responsibilities to accomplish the desired results both through individual work and support personnel. Able to work as a team player.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, especially as required in preparing and making presentations, working with various committees and interacting with diverse groups of internal and external contacts.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products (emphasis on advanced Excel proficiency) and QuickBooks. Project management skills are beneficial.
  • Must have a current Oklahoma driver’s license and current insurance verification.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in the financial statement close process including account reconciliations and the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial statements. Experience with Federal and State grant management required.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a controller or assistant controller to a comparable-sized organization required or a minimum of three years’ experience with a public accounting firm.
  • 5+ years progressively responsible supervisory experience.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
