This senior leader will drive the organization's philanthropic engine, with a primary mandate to expand corporate sponsorships, major gifts, and donor stewardship. You will lead the intersection of fundraising and storytelling, managing a team to ensure our mission is funded and our message is heard. We are looking for an innovator who moves beyond traditional fundraising to build sustainable, data-driven relationships with our community, leveraging modern CRM strategies and high-touch personal engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing major gifts and sponsorships.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (Bloomerang preferred) and donor research tools (Direct Mail Experience Preferred).
  • Experience with Canva or similar design coordination tools.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to engage with high-net-worth individuals and corporate leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Flexibility to travel to partners as needed
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to our mission of saving lives

Nice To Haves

  • Data-Driven storytelling: The ability to translate "State of the Shelter" statistics into compelling donor narratives for newsletters and board presentations.
  • Omnichannel Stewardship: Experience leveraging video messages, text-to-give platforms, and social media retargeting to complement traditional phone/mail outreach.
  • Community-Centric Fundraising: A philosophy that prioritizes building community trust and reciprocal relationships over purely transactional donation requests.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Fundraising & Sponsorship Acquisition
  • Aggressive Prospecting: Execute a robust moves management strategy. Conduct a high volume of prospect calls weekly (KPI target: 10+ daily) to cultivate new relationships and re-engage lapsed donors.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Lead the outreach for event sponsorships and annual corporate partners. During event seasons, drive a targeted campaign of daily outreach to secure revenue goals.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage a personal portfolio of top-tier donors. Execute monthly stewardship outreach (coffees, lunches, site visits) to the organization's top stakeholders to deepen engagement.
  • Legacy & Planned Giving: Spearhead the "Legacy of Love" program, identifying estate gift prospects and ensuring the accurate recognition of endowment and legacy gifts.
  • Innovative Stewardship & Operations
  • Tech-Enabled Donor Journeys: Oversee the integrity of the CRM (Bloomerang). Transform data into action by utilizing "hotlists" for direct mail and creating automated task workflows for donor thank-you calls and touchpoints.
  • Rapid Response Stewardship: Monitor incoming donations daily. Ensure all $500+ donors receive personal, signed acknowledgment letters and phone calls within 48 hours.
  • Grant Oversight: Facilitate weekly strategy meetings with the Grant Writer. Specific goals include the submission of at least three (3) major grants per month and identifying cross-departmental opportunities for funding.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Mentorship & Management: Conduct bi-weekly 1:1s with the Event Manager and Marketing Specialist to review KPIs, professional development, and project roadblocks.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Lead weekly departmental team meetings to align marketing deliverables with fundraising goals.
  • Executive Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive development reports (pipeline progress, marketing KPIs, event revenue) for the Executive Director, Resource Development Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Community Visibility & Marketing
  • Public Representation: Serve as the face of HSNEGA at key community networking events, including weekly Rotary meetings and monthly Chamber of Commerce "Business After Hours" events.
  • Marketing Oversight: Rigorous evaluation of marketing deliverables (graphics, emails, promotional content) to ensure they effectively support fundraising calls-to-action.
  • Internal Communication: Participate in staff huddles, rotating team members to share development wins, ensuring the entire shelter staff feels connected to fundraising success.
