We are seeking a Senior Director of AI and Technology to lead the evolution of our technological ecosystem and drive practical, high-impact innovation across Veterinary United. This role blends long-term strategy with hands-on execution, overseeing AI adoption, data systems, infrastructure, and digital solutions that empower our teams and streamline operations across all practices. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, collaborative, and highly technical — someone who understands the possibilities of AI, automation, data engineering, and systems architecture, and can translate those possibilities into solutions that measurably improve workflow, efficiency, and decision-making.

  • Develop and execute a scalable AI roadmap that enhances efficiency, improves outcomes, and supports every function — recruiting, operations, inventory, finance, HR, marketing, and clinical workflows.
  • Identify automation opportunities that reduce manual work and elevate team performance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to determine feasibility and ROI for a multi-location veterinary organization.
  • Lead implementation of AI tools, automation platforms, and machine learning solutions that elevate the client, patient, and employee experience.
  • Work closely with leaders in Recruiting, HR, Finance, Operations, and Marketing to understand pain points and implement data-driven, tech-forward solutions.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on AI, systems optimization, and digital transformation.
  • Oversee unification and improvement of core systems (HRIS, ERP, CRM, PIMS, inventory systems, etc.).
  • Ensure platforms communicate seamlessly and support accurate, timely reporting and analytics.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, predictive models, and analytic tools that empower leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Establish data standards, governance, and best practices across the organization.
  • Maintain high standards of security, privacy, and regulatory compliance across all systems and processes.
  • Implement strong data protection, network security, and backup solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a growing technology team focused on innovation, agility, and problem-solving.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Leadership experience in technology, digital transformation, or innovation within a multi-location, healthcare, or complex operational environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in AI implementation, automation, data engineering, and system integrations.
  • Deep experience with systems architecture, cloud infrastructure, SaaS platforms, Windows domain environments, cybersecurity, and enterprise backup solutions.
  • Proven ability to align technology initiatives with business priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; able to translate technical concepts into organizational impact.
  • A strategic yet hands-on approach — equally comfortable designing the roadmap and executing the details.
  • A family-owned, independent culture that values people, innovation, and doing the right thing.
  • The opportunity to build and shape a modern technology ecosystem across 24 practices and growing.
  • A chance to lead AI adoption in one of Michigan’s fastest-growing independent veterinary organizations.
  • A collaborative senior leadership team committed to meaningful, forward-thinking change.
