About The Position

To provide the leadership and oversight necessary for the Senior Director of Academics and Operations to function as the Superintendent’s designee, guiding the development and implementation of cohesive academic and operational systems across the network. This role ensures consistent instructional practices, accountability compliance, and data driven improvement to advance student achievement and overall organizational performance. This position reports to the Superintendent of Excel Centers who evaluates performance annually. This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision, and Values, on behalf of Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in academic leadership, school operations, curriculum, instruction, or adult education strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to equity, adult learner success, and the mission of The Excel Center.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze academic data and implement systems level improvements.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Superintendent’s designee for academic and operational matters across all campuses.
  • Provide academic vision and ensure implementation of a coherent instructional framework.
  • Oversee alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessment, grading, progress monitoring, and academic technology.
  • Lead accountability and compliance work with ICSB, IDOE, and state mandated academic deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ensure consistent grading timelines, course setup, scheduling, transcript accuracy, and credit tracking.
  • Oversee data accuracy, assessment logistics, and academic reporting systems.
  • Coordinate professional development aligned with instructional needs and improvement priorities.
  • Conduct school level analyses of procedures, staffing, curriculum implementation, instructional quality, and student data.
  • Cascade legislative and accountability updates across the network and support directors with compliance and charter renewals.
  • Guide teacher development structures, classroom assessment strategies, and academic rigor.
  • Serve as the academic product owner for instructional technology platforms.
  • Assist with negotiating software contracts and academic service agreements.
  • Lead monthly Academic Operations meetings with Lead Teachers.
  • Provide cross campus leadership to ensure consistent academic expectations and operational alignment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
