In collaboration with the Care Anywhere (CAW) & Jump Start Assessment (JSA) Clinical Leadership Team, Sr. Director of Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) is a strategic and visionary clinical executive who will lead, develop, and optimize the performance, integration, and clinical excellence of our APC team. As a key member of the clinical leadership team, Sr. Director will be accountable for ensuring that all APC-led services deliver exceptional medical care to our members, improving quality outcomes, reducing avoidable utilization, and supporting the company’s value-based care mission. Sr. Director will drive innovation, clinical model evolution, workforce strategy, and operational performance across all multi-regional teams and markets. A deep understanding of population health, provider performance management, and risk-based care is essential to advancing Alignment’s mission of transforming health care one person at a time. Sr. Director of APCs provides strategic, enterprise-level clinical leadership across multi-state markets. This role ensures consistent, high-quality care delivery, drives performance aligned with value-based goals, and fosters a high-performing, engaged workforce. Sr. Director collaborates closely with clinical, operational, and executive leaders to advance organizational strategy and patient-centered outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • 3+ years experience leading clinical staff, preferably within a high-risk clinic and/or home-based care delivery environment.
  • Master’s Degree NP or PA license with active board certification
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and HCPC codes
  • Knowledge of clinical standards of care and proficient in clinical diagnosis and treatment skills
  • Knowledge of UM standards, NCQA requirements, CMS guidelines, and Medicaid/Medicare contracts and benefit systems
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain a constructive relationship with diverse members, management, employees and vendors.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and calculate simple statistics correctly
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; advanced problem-solving; ability to use advanced reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and design, implement and manage appropriate resolution.
  • Effective problem solving, organizational and time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comprehend and analyze statistical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Clinical Leadership & Strategy Leads and evolves the APC care delivery model across multi-state markets, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, regulatory requirements, and population health needs.
  • Partners with executive and clinical leadership to drive scalable innovation, influence strategic planning, and adapt the model to support business growth and industry change.
  • Oversee development and implementation of clinical standards, workflows, and policy frameworks to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance enterprise wide.
  • Performance and Accountability Accountable for clinical OKRs and key enterprise KPIs, including clinical documentation accuracy (HCC), readmission rates, quality ratings (HEDIS), and patient satisfaction.
  • Partners with Data & Technology Services (DTS) to monitor and report performance through real-time dashboards and analytics, driving data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Clinical Operations Oversight Ensuring enterprise-wide clinical operations comply with CMS, Medicare Advantage, and applicable federal/state regulations.
  • Leads clinical audits, practice oversight, and the development of high-impact documentation and care protocols
  • Talent Strategy & Workforce Leadership Provides strategic leadership to APCs and management teams across multi-state markets
  • Builds and sustains a high-performing clinical workforce through structured talent development, mentorship, and retention strategies aligned with organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership on recruitment, onboarding, and clinical training to ensure readiness and clinical excellence at scale
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Patient Advocacy Serves as a key clinical advisor and connector across virtual care, case management, IPAs, and external partners to drive integrated, whole-person care.
  • Advocates for patient-centered care delivery by influencing care plans, reducing avoidable utilization, and resolving escalated grievances.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation Identify opportunities to enhance clinical workflows, reduce administrative burden, and improve member and provider experience.
  • Pilot and scale innovative clinical intervention approaches, including digital, in-home, and community-based models.
  • Monitor CMS regulatory changes and proactively adapt clinical strategies to evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee staff in collaboration with Clinical Leadership Team.
  • Assist with recruiting, selecting, orientating and training employees; Workforce management to include managing staffing models and assigning APC caseload panels;
  • Provide feedback on job performance and manage to core competencies.
  • Responsible for retention of current clinical team and working proactively with clinical leadership to help support and mentor Advanced Practice Clinicians.
