About The Position

The Senior Director, Institutional Relations is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, mission-driven fundraiser to spearhead and support the growth of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York’s portfolio of foundation, government and corporate partners. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Director will be equally skilled as a frontline fundraiser and a grant writer, working to develop relationships with program officers and executives. Working collaboratively across the entire organization, the Senior Director will drive an innovative and effective institutional giving program, generating key revenue for the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum5-7years ofexperience in foundation grant writing and relationship management.
  • Exceptionalattention to detail; abletoaccomplishall aspects of the development function from basic administrative tasks to high-level strategy.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability toestablishand monitor priorities,and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstration of initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness in working effectively on multiple projects.
  • Outstanding written and presentation skillswith the ability to speak clearly, write persuasively,and listen attentively.
  • Supervisory experience orstrong desireto be a collaborative, intentionalsupervisorand mentor.
  • Abilityto work independently, as well as in a team, witha track recordof collaborating successfully with program staff.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs,familiarity with Raiser’sEdgea plus.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekendsfor program and fundraising events and funder site visitsrequired.
  • Belief in and commitment to the principles of the Girl Scout movement.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience with government grants and overseeing government grant awards, including submission ofreportsand supportingdocumentationa plus.
  • Familiarity with New York City’s philanthropic communitypreferred, especially in the areas of youth development, environmental education, outdoor adventure, and/orgirlsempowerment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual fundraising plan and lead a process to support growth infundingfrom corporationsand private foundations,increasing revenue from $1.6M to $4M annually over three years.
  • Managecultivation and solicitation strategies — frominitialinquiries to written proposalsto reporting and ongoing relationship management— for newly identified and existing corporate and foundation funders.
  • Serveas a primary relationship manager for a portfolio of corporate and foundation partners, ensuringtimelyand thoughtful stewardship.
  • Supervise andmanage anAssociateworkingin collaboration to prepare clear, concise, and compelling letters, proposals, andreportsfor50+ funders andprojects.
  • Collaborate with program staff toidentifyfunding opportunities that advance GSGNY’s strategic plan and alignwith foundation, corporate, and governmental interests.
  • Oversee prospect research, developfunderprofiles, and provide briefings for meetings.
  • Grow corporate partnershipportfolio, includingmanaging volunteer engagements in close partnership with other departments.
  • Manage and deepen strategic corporate and foundation partnerships, serving as a primary relationship lead and coordinating across internal teams to ensure alignment, stewardship, and long-term engagement.
  • Overseegovernment grantwriting andadministration,including the contracting processand reporting requirements.
  • In collaboration with the finance team, developbudgets, forecastneeds, and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
  • Maintainaccurateinstitutional giving records, proposals, reporting calendars, and documentation using departmental systems and tools.
  • Enthusiastically collaborate with other members of the Advancement team to achieve the department’s collective goals.
  • Participate in the goal-setting process todeterminedepartment revenue goals, in partnership withCDO.
  • Represent the institutional giving program at select donor events, meetings, and cross-departmental planning efforts.
