Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 20+ years of higher education experience working with deans, senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
  • 10+ years of leadership and management experience.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategies that enhance employee engagement.
  • Strong background in employee relations, conflict resolution, and mediation.
  • Technical knowledge of HR systems and data analysis.
  • Comprehensive understanding of higher education policies and regulations.
  • SHRM-CP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy for the Arts and Humanities departments.
  • Collaborate with institutional leaders to identify staffing needs and develop workforce plans.
  • Conduct division-wide assessments to identify performance gaps and implement improvements.
  • Administer HR staff and professional development budgets.
  • Lead and manage a team of two full-time professionals, providing guidance and mentoring.
  • Set performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations of team progress.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment through open communication and teamwork.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts, ensuring compliance with DEI standards.
  • Design and implement effective training programs for new hires and current employees.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and monitor effectiveness.
  • Facilitate monthly all-staff meetings and oversee the annual HUM Staff Award Program.
  • Design and implement talent management plans to attract and retain top talent.
  • Conduct exit interviews and develop strategies to address issues raised.
  • Lead the development of policies promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Provide expertise in conflict resolution and employee relations.
  • Oversee performance management processes to support staff professional goals.
  • Partner with DEI leaders to create initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop training programs on inclusive practices and monitor DEI metrics.
  • Manage division staff compensation ranges and analyze compensation data.
  • Oversee payroll functions ensuring compliance and accurate processing of payments.
  • Advise unit management on employment laws and HR strategies.
  • Develop and implement HR plans and operational policies for the unit.
  • Represent the unit in grievances and coordinate resolutions.
