About The Position

Cornell University welcomes candidates for the position of Senior Director, Diversity, U.S. Regional, and International Alumni Engagement in our Alumni Affairs and Development division, based in Ithaca, NY. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the university's advancement efforts. The Senior Director for Diversity, Regional, and International Alumni Engagement leads strategic alumni engagement and outreach to the 300,000+ alumni living domestically and abroad. This critical position oversees the work of the U. S. Regional Engagement and International Alumni Relations teams to cultivate and nurture nearly 90 domestic and 40 international Cornell alumni clubs and communities across Asia, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. The Senior Director also oversees the work of the Diversity Alumni Programs team and the work it does with dozens of diverse alumni organizations. Cornell's Alumni Affairs and Development division, widely regarded as one of the top-performing advancement organizations in higher education, connects alumni, parents and friends with opportunities to advance the university's mission through philanthropy and engagement. As part of our team, you'll help cultivate meaningful relationships while working alongside dedicated professionals who share your commitment to excellence and educational advancement. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 3 days per week and on site 2 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 to 10 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Willingness to travel domestically 3-5 times and internationally 2+ times per year.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Savvy problem-solving skills within a matrixed organization
  • Global mindset, experience in operating with cultural sensitivity.
  • Significant experience in managing a diverse set of volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to initiate, implement, evaluate, and advance strategic plans, impactful events, and initiatives.
  • Experience leading moderate sized teams or larger
  • Demonstrated ability to serve on senior leadership teams and interact with stakeholders at the highest levels of an organization

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive alumni engagement strategies and programs
  • Oversee the management and development of a pipeline of domestic and international volunteers
  • Guide the planning and implementation of numerous domestic and international events
  • Leverage measurement and analytics to grow alumni participation around the world
  • Lead a team of other alumni engagement professionals
