The Senior Director of Finance for Catalent’s Baltimore Gene Therapy site will serve as the financial leader for the site’s commercial, development, and manufacturing operations. This role acts as a strategic business partner to the Site General Manager, Site Leadership Team, and the Biologics Segment Finance leader, driving financial performance, operational execution, and long‑range value creation. The position oversees FP&A, cost accounting, cash management, monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and strategic decision support across the Baltimore Gene Therapy network. This leader will play a critical role in improving visibility to site performance, optimizing cost structure, supporting customer negotiations, enhancing profitability, and ensuring financial integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience; minimum 5 years in a manufacturing or life sciences environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership supporting a complex operations site; gene therapy, biologics, or pharma CDMO experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep experience with FP&A, cost accounting, financial modeling, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross‑functional alignment.
  • Strong analytical rigor, executive presence, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Talent Development: Build, develop, and mentor a high‑performing finance team that can support a rapidly evolving clinical and commercial gene therapy operation.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Own the site’s monthly actuals, monthly forecast, annual budget, and 5 year strategic plan, incorporating insights from commercial, operations, quality, and other functional teams.
  • Operations Finance & Cost Accounting: Oversee site cost accounting structure, ensuring robust processes for batch costing, Bill of Materials, yields, scrap, and production order controls.
  • Capital, Systems & Process Optimization: Lead financial governance for site capital investments, including business cases, ROI evaluations, and post project reviews.
  • Customer & Commercial Support: Provide finance support to customer negotiations including pricing models, margin analysis, change orders, and contract structuring.
  • Other duties as assigned.
