The Senior Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Southeast will lead and manage a high-performing team of MSLs to drive field medical business performance and advance our company’s strategic medical objectives. In addition to managing a region of MSLs and driving execution, the Senior Director will have expanded responsibility and accountability for developing and managing other leaders in the medical affairs organization. This individual will also have responsibility for coordinating and aligning strategies and initiatives with cross functional business partners in the field to drive seamless, high impact partnershjp, inclusive of appropriate strategic planning, execution, and performance indicators. Finally, these individuals will take independent accountability for identifying and implementing departmental and organizational strategic plans that are critical to maintaining and innovating high performing teams driving impact for customers, patients and ViiV business. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong scientific and business acumen as well as interpersonal skills who can ensure the highest quality scientific engagement with the healthcare community. Requirements

  • Advanced degree in medical OR health sciences OR clinical discipline (MD, DO, PharmD, NP, PA)
  • 10 plus years of pharmaceutical experience in medical affairs, including 5 plus years of field medical experience.
  • Matrix leadership experience
  • People Management experience
  • Experience managing Key Stakeholders
  • Experience with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead, oversee, coach, mentor and provide guidance to a team of field medical personnel to ensure high levels of scientific engagement, performance, and professional growth as well as effective territory management.
  • People Leadership and Development: Recruit, develop and retain key talent, building an organization that reflects a high performing, diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Accountable for the direction and execution of strategic medical objectives and territory plans. Provide oversight of all account and territory plans.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to enhance team effectiveness and drive overall team performance ensuring cross-functional ways of working with R&D, Headquarters Medical and Commercial teams.
  • Scientific Expertise: Responsible for scientific knowledge and expertise of self and team; Maintains clinical knowledge of the HIV therapeutic area and broad market knowledge including current treatment strategies, current and pending competitors, pipeline, access and coverage and market trends.
  • Scientific Engagement: Ensure the team has a robust interface with external experts, healthcare professionals, and industry experts to gather insights and drive high quality scientific engagement.
  • Business Performance: Analyze and leverage scientific and performance data to provide actionable insights that support business development, product strategies, and regional/global clinical development strategies for Phase II through IV clinical plans.
  • Training and Development: Ensure team is are well-trained with the latest scientific information and core industry compliance standards; Cultivate proficiency in core competencies and develop direct reports in the field
  • Compliance and Quality: Responsible for team compliance of all field medical activities with applicable regulatory guidelines and company policies, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct, including documentation. Provide medical coordination of appropriate regional risk management activities for ViiV Healthcare.
  • Clinical Trial Support: Lead MSL support of ViiV US sponsored and supported research in specific region, including identifying and selecting appropriate investigators to participate in clinical trials, providing support to Clinical teams and investigators to increase subject enrollment, retention, and site performance.
