The Senior Director, Exploration will identify and evaluate digital and AI technologies, as well as companies, to strengthen Edwards’ business and technology portfolio. This role collaborates with experts and cross-functional teams to advance external digital innovation, providing technical guidance to shape the organization’s future and improve care for structural heart disease patients. Staying current with trends in digital health and AI, the Senior Director builds relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and startups to identify transformative opportunities and keep Edwards at the forefront of medical technology innovation. How you’ll make an impact: Design and manage technology sourcing initiatives across the organization by: Building a pipeline of high-potential external digital solutions, Leading technology reviews with cross-functional and leadership teams for assigned business units Partner with Business Development Execution team (e.g, Corporate Development) to transition opportunity to potential partners including the evaluation of technology due diligence and monitoring their continuing development and evolution to determine when investment is advisable Conduct initial high level business fit and technical evaluation of potential opportunities to determine if they are worthy of further, detailed functional evaluation while developing strong relationships with external partners Create a presence at key technology conferences including understanding technology landscape for assigned BU(s) Serve in an advisory role to management to provide direction and guidance to project teams to execute enterprise-level digital projects, initiatives and/or programs Develop the strategy in the identification of external technology and product opportunities Other incidental duties

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in related field with 12+ years of related experience (e.g., Engineering)
  • Proven successful experience leading the identification, acquisition and/or development of novel/disruptive technologies
  • Experience working in digital health

Nice To Haves

  • PhD preferred
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical or medical device industry, or a technology company on healthcare related solutions
  • Creative and strategic, abstract problem solver with high curiosity quotient including possessing rigorous analytical disciplined and ‘hypothesis’ driven approach using a combination of top-down and bottom-up analyses
  • Ability to operate fluidly between strategic/conceptual and tactical/executional
  • Ability to quickly evaluate solution viability, courage to fail fast and learn from mistakes
  • Strong interpersonal skills as team leader and team player with experience cross-functional team management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; dynamic (persuasive) in presenting ideas to teams
  • Recognized as an expert within sub-function(s) and/or area(s) and broader organization with broad-based expertise across area and related functions
  • Expert understanding of business strategy, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and clinical data with broad based business and industry knowledge coupled with high-level knowledge of company strategic goals
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
