About The Position

As a result, The Enterprise Innovation team, reporting to Travelers' Chief Innovation Officer, executes on a mission to Perform & Transform. In this role you will be a part of the innovation & experience vision and strategy for our customers, employees, and external partners, guiding the definition, testing, and implementation of service and product solutions in one or more channels. The team partners across the organization to build awareness, drive a sense of urgency, and act on solutions including driving discussions around future trends, emerging risk changes, and big bets areas, and their implications for Travelers. As the Senior Director, Enterprise Innovation, you will own a diverse portfolio of innovation initiatives and/or engagements aimed at solving specific business, agent, and/or customer problems that results in a broader strategic goal. In this role you will drive action-based learning to help senior leaders make informed evidence-based decisions on whether to continue, pivot, or stop work on initiatives. You will proactively initiate and facilitate collaboration with partners and stakeholders to communicate strategic direction, innovation strategy and objectives through am innovation approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or comparable analytical degree or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in strategy consulting, innovation, market research, project management, product management or related field
  • Three years of people management.

  • Seven years of experience in strategy consulting, innovation, R&D, market research, product management, project management or related field.
  • Advanced experience with innovation tools and methodologies (including design thinking, lean startup, agile, JTBD, ODI, etc.).
  • Experience with idea-generating techniques in a business context and demonstrated ability to drive innovation initiatives from ideation to launch.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn observations derived from data and analysis into actionable insights and advise on business strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to advise and consult and ability to manage multiple engagements and/or initiatives from the scoping phase through client delivery, managing to a budget on projects utilizing vendors.
  • Stakeholder management and evidence of building and maintaining relationships in a corporate setting with the ability to influence and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Insurance and/or Financial Services related work experience with the understanding of insurance financials and products.
  • Ability to work in and lead teams and deliver as part of multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Expertly explore, build out perspectives, define goals, and assess velocity using methodologies and tools such as Clues & Hunches, Future Scenario & Implications, Objectives and Key Results.
  • Manage research, consolidating insights and stimulus to foster the dialogue with key stakeholders (Business & Product leaders, Sr. Execs, Management & Operating Committee members, SMEs etc.) around the future trends and potential impacts for the business area(s).
  • Lead, facilitate, coordinate, and lead future trends sessions, ideation sessions including collecting perspectives, and consolidating analysis and insight to support engagement & discussions from stakeholders.
  • Set strategies and goals for the discovery and creation of new and improved solutions that result in unified, inclusive, and valuable experiences for our customers, agents, and employees.
  • Employ a variety of research studies to formulate hypotheses and employ a wide variety of experiment techniques to prove or disprove those hypotheses.
  • Manage research and testing activities to gather evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of concepts and solutions; analyze, evaluate, describe, report results and recommendations to stakeholders into actionable insights and end to end initiatives/engagements.
  • Manage market assessment to Value Chain topics including integrating existing reports and creating white papers and perspectives on future trends and opportunity areas for Travelers through test & learn initiatives and POCs, related to Value Chain topics.
  • Proactively collaborate with partners to facilitate, lead, prepare materials for discussions and meetings from business and functional areas involved.
  • Proactively promote the Innovation Office across enterprise via different channels (newsletter, Evangelist meetings, Enterprise working group etc.) and infuse and enable a culture of continuous innovation across Travelers by leading and participating in various internal innovation events, training sessions while growing a strong network of relationships internally across Travelers and internally and externally with partners and vendors.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to internal and external team members, fostering their growth and development in alignment with organizational objectives including LDP participants and other new members of Innovation Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
