Job Overview The Senior Director, Enterprise Financial Systems is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the business ownership, governance, and continuous improvement of Thermo Fisher’s corporate financial reporting and consolidation applications. This role oversees the Enterprise Financial Systems environment within the consolidation portfolio and partners closely with Corporate FP&A, Corporate Reporting, Controllership, Business Finance, Corporate IT, and other enterprise stakeholders to ensure reliable, scalable, and well-controlled financial processes. This leader is accountable for the functional integrity, effectiveness, and evolution of applications supporting monthly and quarterly close, consolidation, forecasting, planning, and management reporting. The role drives strong governance, disciplined prioritization, and sustainable operating models aligned with enterprise finance objectives. The Senior Director, Enterprise Financial Systems will lead the business process design and functional implementation of FCCS (cloud consolidation), ensuring thoughtful evaluation of requirements, strong change management, and long-term scalability. This leader plays a critical role in advancing finance transformation initiatives while maintaining operational excellence across a complex, global environment. In addition, the role serves as a key contributor to broader enterprise initiatives — including M&A integrations, divestitures, and other projects impacting financial reporting and consolidation processes. As the primary business owner supporting approximately 3,000 Finance and Controllership end users, this leader champions service excellence, continuous improvement, and a strong control environment.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in complex, integrated financial reporting and consolidation applications, including HFM, Essbase, EPBCS/PBCS, DRM/EDMCS, FDMEE, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of financial consolidation, eliminations, GAAP accounting, and reporting processes supporting monthly and quarterly close in a large, multinational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a business owner of enterprise finance applications, with accountability for functional configuration, enhancement prioritization, and end-user engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with accountability for service delivery and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong business governance and compliance frameworks, including SOX and financial reporting control frameworks.
  • Strong partnership and influencing skills, with demonstrated success collaborating effectively across Finance, Corporate IT, Tax, Treasury, Audit, Technical Accounting, and other enterprise functions within a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a complex, highly matrixed global organization, driving alignment and outcomes across multiple stakeholders, functions, and business units.
  • Experience delivering and functionally supporting global finance applications that drive consistency, scalability, and process standardization across international organizations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate strategy into clear priorities and executable plans.
  • Minimum 7 years of people leadership experience, including direct management of experienced finance or financial systems professionals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience required).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial systems leadership within a large, complex, multinational organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Enterprise Financial Systems function, supporting a global Finance and Controllership community of approximately 3,000 users across HFM, Essbase, EPBCS, FDMEE, EDMCS, and related platforms.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing Enterprise Financial Systems team, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and strong stakeholder partnership.
  • Ensure the functional integrity, reliability, and effectiveness of applications supporting consolidation, financial reporting, planning, forecasting, and data management processes, with strong governance and control oversight.
  • Lead the business process design and functional implementation of prioritized Enterprise Finance Systems initiatives, including implementation of FCCS (cloud consolidation), while maintaining operational excellence and thoughtfully evaluating future enhancements based on business needs.
  • Oversee functional system administration, configuration, enhancement prioritization, and application roadmap planning, ensuring effective service delivery and clear communication with business stakeholders.
  • Serve as the business owner and functional authority for Enterprise Financial Systems, building strong partnerships with Corporate IT and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise on finance-related initiatives, including Hyperion Planning system design, development and adoption, M&A integrations, divestitures, and other enterprise projects impacting financial systems.
