About The Position

We're looking for a bold, customer-obsessed engineering leader to own the growth of the PayPal Consumer App. You'll drive the strategy, execution, and optimization of how millions of people discover, sign up for, and engage with PayPal. Your work will directly shape the front door of our ecosystem - from the first time someone hears about us, to their first transaction, and beyond. The Growth team sits at the intersection of product, platform, and marketing. We operate like a startup inside PayPal - fast-moving, data-informed, and focused on outcomes. Our mandate is to fuel the expansion of PayPal's consumer base, and we do that by building seamless signup flows, impactful communication channels, and entry points that convert. You'll lead full-stack teams, driving a portfolio of initiatives that span the end-to-end growth journey. This includes how new users discover and sign up for PayPal, how we activate and retain them inside the app, and how we communicate with them across channels like public web, in-app surfaces, push, and beyond. You'll set the technology vision, build the roadmap, and ensure teams are executing at a high level - always with an eye on scale, quality, and impact.

Requirements

  • 12+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience leading others
  • Proven experience in senior software engineering leadership roles, driving the development of large-scale consumer-facing products, preferably with prior fintech experience.
  • Strong technical background in developing solutions across distributed systems, with advanced experience within mobile and web.
  • Deep understanding of funnels, onboarding, personalization, and communication strategies.
  • Proven track record driving measurable business impact through growth-focused initiatives.
  • Comfortable operating at both the strategic and tactical level - you know when to zoom in or out.
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly collaborative, fast-moving, and customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to assess talent at all stages of the employee life cycle including recruiting, hiring, and offboarding.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to lead and inspire teams across global locations.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the best practices and procedures within multiple domains within engineering through subordinate leaders
  • Develops methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people across multiple domains and at an enterprise level
  • Owns relationship with executives and SLT to drive alignment and the creation of business AND technical objectives that will be executed within their organization
  • Responsible for the delivery of high complexity projects/programs with Enterprise impact
  • Develops and executes software development strategy to achieve key business and technical objectives which contributes to the development of overall engineering strategy
  • Consistently works with abstract ideas or situations across software development and engineering, assessing variables, evaluating fundamental issues, and providing direction for engineering
  • Defines organizational roadmap and ensures alignment with PayPal-wide objectives. Sets high level organizational strategy and budget across multiple domains
  • Collaborates with direct team, managers in org, stakeholders, managers in other orgs, external partners, business stakeholders, technology & business leadership
  • Craft and own the Growth strategy for the PayPal Consumer App in close collaboration with Product, Design, Marketing, and Analytics.
  • Lead and inspire teams responsible for conversion, engagement, app activation, and lifecycle retention.
  • Define and prioritize initiatives that remove friction and drive meaningful outcomes at scale.
  • Partner with leadership across the company to align growth goals with broader business priorities.
  • Build a culture of high ownership, rapid experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Use data as your compass - but never lose sight of the customer experience.
