About The Position

Madewell is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Digital Marketing to oversee the strategic direction of our digital marketing touchpoints, including Email, SMS, Direct Mail, Paid Social, Paid Search, and Affiliate. This role involves delivering a comprehensive retention strategy across all customer lifecycle touchpoints, defining segmentation and personalization practices, and building highly personalized campaigns. The Senior Director will also own the channel strategy for performance marketing, developing a testing roadmap to optimize budget allocation based on multiple data sources. Building relationships with internal and external partners and agencies is crucial to ensure clear strategic direction for the business.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in digital marketing with at least 5 years in performance marketing roles.
  • Proven track record developing and managing successful loyalty programs in retail environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive marketing decisions.
  • Experience with MMM or attribution models.
  • Experience managing significant marketing budgets with positive returns.
  • Knowledge of marketing automation, CRM platforms, and loyalty program technologies.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the strategy, development, and execution of performance marketing campaigns across paid search, paid social, affiliate, and other digital channels.
  • Develop test and learn roadmap across performance channels and execute analysis in partnership with agency, platforms, and data teams.
  • Analyze channel trends and impacts using data outputs such as Google Analytics and MMM models to optimize marketing effectiveness and budgets.
  • Develop a strategy focusing on incremental omni demand and profitable customer acquisition.
  • Build marketing budgets and financial goals aligned with planning and KPIs.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive retention strategy through segmentation and personalization to increase engagement and reduce churn.
  • Oversee the development of customer journey frameworks for acquisition, onboarding, reactivation, and win-back strategies.
  • Lead direct mail initiatives to re-engage lapsed customers and prospect new customers.
  • Develop email calendar in partnership with the team to align with merchandising and brand priorities.
  • Manage relationships with third-party partners such as ESP, Trigger email, and Direct Mail vendors.
  • Partner with the loyalty and rewards program to drive engagement and frequency.
  • Leverage customer data to develop communication strategies.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing retention and performance marketing team.
