About The Position

The Senior Director, Community Programming is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and oversight of all community-based programs and operations, including the Matrix Center and related initiatives. This role ensures high-quality, compliant, and outcome-driven service delivery aligned with Matrix Human Services’ mission. The position oversees program performance, community engagement, partnerships, facility operations, and resource development while fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement, equity, and community responsiveness. The Senior Director also plays a key role in expanding community impact through partnerships, funding opportunities, and innovative programming.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Business, or related field (strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in human services, community programming, or related administration
  • Demonstrated experience in program, personnel, and fiscal management
  • Experience with grant writing, fundraising, and resource development
  • Strong knowledge of community systems, funding structures, and partnership development
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, and report on program outcomes
  • Cultural competency and ability to work effectively in diverse communities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data/reporting systems
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and ability to travel locally

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for community programming, including the Matrix Center and affiliated initiatives
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on equity, accountability, and results
  • Represent Matrix in community, civic, and professional settings
  • Advocate for community needs and resource allocation
  • Oversee design, implementation, and evaluation of community programs
  • Develop and track program goals, outcome measures, and performance metrics
  • Conduct community needs assessments to guide programming
  • Ensure integration of services across program areas
  • Promote client-centered, culturally responsive programming
  • Ensure ethical practice and protection of client rights
  • Oversee client recruitment, enrollment, and engagement strategies
  • Build and sustain relationships with community organizations, government, schools, businesses, and funders
  • Engage mission partners, tenants, and collaborators to expand programming and impact
  • Serve as liaison across service providers to ensure coordinated, non-duplicative services
  • Support partnerships that increase access to housing, education, employment, health, and social capital opportunities
  • Represent Matrix on boards, committees, and community initiatives
  • In partnership with Facilities, oversee operations of community-based facilities, including maintenance, safety, and security
  • Establish and enforce facility policies, procedures, and work order systems
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Facilities on site development, renovations, and space utilization
  • Maintain safe, welcoming environments for clients, staff, and partners
  • Maintain and manage relationships with Matrix Center tenants including lease agreements, payments, and recruitment for vacant spaces
  • Supervise, coach, and develop directors and staff
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective service delivery
  • Oversee staff training, supervision, performance evaluations, and professional development
  • Promote use of volunteers, interns, and community resources
  • Support HR processes including hiring, discipline, and employee development
  • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with finance
  • Ensure fiscal accountability and alignment with funding requirements
  • Partner with the development team on funding opportunities
  • Support revenue generation through tenants, partnerships, and community engagement
  • Oversee financial reporting and budget adjustments
  • In partnership with fiscal, ensure timely processing of short-term rental invoicing
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual, licensing, accreditation, and organizational standards
  • Oversee data collection, reporting, and program evaluation
  • Lead continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts across programs
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
  • Provide regular reports on outcomes, activities, and performance
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to promote programs and increase visibility
  • Support fundraising, events, and community outreach efforts
  • Provide content and materials for internal and external communications
  • Manage partnership agreements (MOUs) and stakeholder communications
