About The Position

The Jewish Board’s Adult and Family Residential Division provides support to individuals diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness. Using a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach, staff guide the residents to create and meet personalized recovery goals, to develop independent living skills, and to plan effectively to be able to live in a healthy and secure manner. Our work is guided by principles that emphasize the critical importance of safe and stable housing, utilize a culturally competent and anti-racist lens, and respect the dignity and legitimacy of each individual’s journey. POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Executive Program Director (EPD), the Senior Director of Clinical Services provides clinical leadership that results in robust and effective clinical operations, fiscal viability, and division-wide compliance with multiple regulations and requirements. The Senior Director oversees execution of day-to-day tasks and improvement projects to ensure that the division’s programming and services supports the provision of quality care every day. Key areas of focus for the role are to collaborate with leadership staff of the Division, oversee utilization review activities, provide clinical leadership related to overall risk management activities, work on implementation of evidence-based care models, collaborate with Learning Department on training needs, participate in clinical and critical incident huddles to provide clinical expertise and planning, and supervise interns as assigned. The Senior Director of Clinical Services will supervise the utilization review specialist, any special grant funded clinical staff, and interns as assigned. The Senior Director of Clinical Services will work closely with the Senior Directors of Congregate Care, Apartment Treatment and Supported Housing as well as the Director of Operations and Program Directors. The Senior Director of Clinical Services will work closely with the Adult Residential leadership team in ensuring the Division’s programming and services are standardized and promote efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided.

Requirements

Master’s degree in human services and New York State clinical licensure in social work or mental health counseling (LCSW or LMHC required)
At least 8 years of clinical experience in behavioral health services; solid clinical skills; strong crisis intervention knowledge and skills and knowledge of trauma-informed, evidence-based practices
At least 5 years prior experience in a supervisory/leadership role in a behavioral health program.
Experience working with electronic medical records and proficient with use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and use of video conferencing platforms (TEAMS).
Ability to operate computer devices (mouse, keyboard)

Responsibilities

Responsible for development and oversight of housing related clinical services or models of care to effectively meet the clinical needs of the individuals/families residing in AFR Programs as well as ensuring clients have timely access to quality supportive housing services.
Identify gaps in services at the program level and develop potential solutions to fill the gap
Lead the implementation of evidence-based services or have direct oversight and responsibility for innovative models of care, in partnership with JB training department and/or external agencies, ensure clients have timely access to care.
Develop escalation protocols for residents experiencing or at risk for experiencing a crisis; participate in clinical and incident huddles to provide clinical expertise and strategies for intervention.
Collaborate with internal medical/psychiatric providers, senior directors and directors in addressing crisis situations and developing safety plans.
Collaborate with external providers such as AOT, IMT and ACT in addressing residents’ crisis situations and developing a plan to ensure the safety of resident, other residents, staff and the community.
Collaborate with One Call to assess appropriateness of referrals and placement opportunities to best meet the needs of potential residents.
Monitor incoming referrals to develop alerts/safety plans prior to move in and educate program staff in order to develop strategies to prevent/avoid crisis situations; monitor outcomes for residents on alert/safety plans to evaluate the effectiveness of preadmission planning for safety.
Oversee crisis intervention, safety planning and follow up
Conducting or participating in staff training and development related to clinical/crisis intervention topics
Monitor and follow up on program incidents as assigned
As part of program management, identify and develop systems to improve program operations
May serve as back up to other Program leaders, assuming responsibility for clinical oversight in his/her absence.
