About The Position

The Senior Director provides leadership and administrative oversight to the Centralized Clinical Admitting department within the Clinical Command Center. This individual directs and administers programs, strategies and initiatives designed to develop, enhance and support the clinical and operational goals of the department. The incumbent collaborates with the Vice President and other senior leaders in the strategic and operational planning of the department. The Senior Director facilitates and participates in the implementation of multidisciplinary hospital and system-wide compliance programs. Works closely with internal teams, stakeholders and other collaborators to provide improved services in clinical outcomes, strategic protocol design and regulatory compliance. This role includes routine travel to hospitals across the health system to ensure operational alignment, provide leadership oversight and maintain strong partnerships with local teams.

Requirements

  • Master?s degree required, advanced degree highly preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in health care administration, at least 3-5 years of staff management experience, leadership experience in a health care environment, experience in strategic planning and execution, formulating policy, managing resources and leading successful teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Skilled communicator.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills.
  • Track record of building long-term relationships with strategic partner
  • Ability to clearly present strategic plans and priorities of an organization to both internal and external audiences.
  • Effective stakeholder collaboration with all organizational and senior leaders.
  • Self-starter, able to drive successful change initiatives across the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides leadership in the development and implementation of integrated operational and administrative programs, structures, systems, policies and initiatives that support the mission of the department.
  • Participates in the design of program goals, timelines and objectives.
  • Oversees project operations and assists with defining measurable and actionable metrics for program success.
  • Directly evaluates and monitors all development efforts to ensure business effectiveness and introduces required tactical plans for business improvement, as needed.
  • Researches opportunities for enhancement of existing operational and programmatic models.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of information technology applications to support operations.
  • Ensures cross-departmental consistency in meeting educational and administrative compliance standards.
  • Provides leadership to staff to ensure compliance with regulatory, institutional and departmental guidelines.
  • Serves as content expert on system and departmental policy, and helps to coordinate clinical and operational programs.
  • Facilitates communication and ensures proper flow of information to achieve process implementation.
  • Develops and manages best-practices and tools for improvement, plan execution, and education/training.
  • Collects data, prepares reports, analyzes statistics, and responds to correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Performs needs analysis for program development.

  • Interprets departmental policies, objectives and operational procedures with Regional Directors.
  • Routinely reviews policies and any workflow issues/concerns.
  • Works to provide problem resolution with recommended change management measures.
  • Researches and identifies professional development opportunities for staff and leadership team.
  • Mentors operational leaders, with a strong focus on staff development.
  • Assists in the selection, employment, development, and management of employees.
  • Responsible for personnel policies and practices.
  • Provides oversight of the performance appraisal process, disciplinary action, and interactions with all applicable bargaining units.
  • Attends administrative labor grievances as requested.
  • Ensures the development and delivery of required staff training using a competency-based assessment program.
  • Evaluate and develop staff based on job-specific competencies.
  • Evaluates how staff resources are allocated to support business activities.
  • Partners with clinical and administrative staff to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, to include but not limited to, The Joint Commission and NYS/NYC Department of Health.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership.
