The Senior Digital Systems Engineer at Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is responsible for leading the integration of digital systems within a government-owned Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDEE). This role involves software virtualization, hardware emulation, and modeling and simulation of complex defense systems, ensuring that digital representations meet fidelity requirements and support system of systems (SoS) design and evaluation. The position requires collaboration with US government stakeholders and the ability to maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Lead a detailed analysis of existing digital system representations, including software virtualization, hardware emulation, and modeling and simulation.
  • Develop a plan to update existing digital system representations and create new ones.
  • Integrate digital system representations within a government-owned IDEE to support SoS design, development, integration, test, and evaluation.
  • Work closely with US government representatives to obtain existing digital artifacts and justify the need for additional artifacts based on fidelity requirements.
  • Develop and implement a plan to verify and validate individual digital system representations and the integrated SoS environment.
  • Assist US government stakeholders in creating digital representations of software-defined antenna equipment and integration within the PNT SoS IDEE.
  • Develop and implement a plan to periodically update and test digital representations and the integrated SoS environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical experience, preferably in defense, including digital system development or integration.
  • Defense system integration and test experience, with server and/or desktop virtualization.
  • Familiarity with networking basics.
  • Experience with Docker, Helm, K8s/Kubernetes, Ansible-playbook, and SQL relational databases (Postgres, MS-SQL, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in a Linux operating environment, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Ability to read, write, and debug scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, Java, C/C++, and JavaScript.
  • Virtualization infrastructure experience with VMware/KVM or similar tools.
  • Ability to lead small technical teams in converting program requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical and cost constraints.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes.
  • Clearance: Secret or ability to achieve Secret clearance.
  • Experience with the USAF Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system, including the Resilient Embedded GPS/INS (R-EGI) internal subsystems.
  • Experience with software-defined antenna equipment and other software-defined user equipment.
  • Experience with Radium, Argocd, Rancher, and Keycloak.
  • Experience with software testing, configuration management, and test automation.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, algorithms, and software design patterns.
  • Proficiency with different software development tools (Git, SVN, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Nexus, etc.)
