The Domain Architect will work across Digital teams, business functions, and other RTX businesses to build relationships, assess, understand, and improve and apply architecture practice. They will develop and provide artifacts documenting architectural roadmaps, objectives, and technological standards. They will also act as a consultant to aid in the development of solutions to drive transformational initiatives and business outcomes. They will use formal architecture frameworks, agile practices, and strategic thinking (including TOGAF, Zachman, Scaled Agile, and DODAF) to optimize our work, and coach architects on best practices and agile concepts as well as mentor staff across the directorate in architectural ways of thinking. This is an onsite role supporting our customer programs/Strategic Business Units based in Plano, TX.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience
  • Experience providing architectures for digital systems.
  • Experience in developing systems designs
  • Experience with some or all the following infrastructure technologies such as (but not limited to): server operating systems, server hardware, compute, storage, networks (Software Defined Networking), virtualization, encryption, or security.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TOP SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience architecting and implementing technology transformation initiatives.

  • Organizational skills to include attention to detail, time management and ability to multitask.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, Ansible, VMware, Containerization, Cloud and NetApp Storage devices; Architectural and Security certifications such as TOGAF, Security+, and CISSP
  • Candidate must have the ability to clearly articulate ideas, process steps, and technical data in written, graphical, and spoken dialogue.
  • Familiarity with Government security controls including NISPOM, JAFAN, ICD 503/705 and the RMF.
  • Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have deep knowledge of project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and tools, including the ability to leverage AI platforms (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data analysis models) to improve efficiency, support decision-making, and drive innovation in daily workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical business value by applying domain architecture practices for the standardization of classified systems, services, and infrastructure.
  • Develop architecture artifacts associated with phases A through E of the TOGAF Architecture Development Method, as needed, for strategic and tactical assignments.
  • Mature Digital Technology’s architecture practice by championing shared principles, strategies, and implementation techniques.
  • Develop new products, processes, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.
  • Support architecture review boards, and guide, schedule, and coach architects and teams through Architecture processes and how to use standard work templates.
  • Participating and leading technical meetings with team members and other program personnel and representing the organization in functional area matters.
  • Develop and coordinate digital technology strategies, roadmaps, and reference architectures.
  • Perform technology evaluations, develop proof-of-concepts, and look for opportunities to introduce advanced Information Technologies into solutions and products.
  • Develop and enforce standards governance and lifecycle management.
  • Owns and develops elements of functional strategies and operational goals in area of expertise.
  • Developing technology processes in line with EA CoE strategic direction.
  • Development of repeatable solution standard patterns.
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own function and typically has responsibilities for communicating with parties external to the organization, (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.).
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
