About The Position

The Senior Digital and Energy Specialist position at the World Bank offers a unique opportunity to contribute to solving significant development challenges. The role is situated within the Digital Vice Presidency, which focuses on establishing the foundations for the digital economy, enhancing digital and data infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity, and advancing digital government services. The position will involve collaboration with various business lines, including Broadband Access and Use, Cloud/Datacenters, Artificial Intelligence, and the Green Digital Business Line, to support countries in their digital transformation efforts. The selected candidate will report to the Global Practice Manager for Digital Infrastructure and will work closely with the Energy Global Practice.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant or related discipline, e.g., engineering in telecoms/energy, social sciences.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise at the intersection of the energy and digital sector.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in an operational or advisory capacity.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence effectively across institutional boundaries.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
  • Fluency in other languages, including Spanish or French.

Responsibilities

  • Play a focal point role in developing and disseminating technical knowledge related to energy-digital linkages.
  • Support the dissemination of good practices and knowledge through the development of practical tools and guidance materials.
  • Support clients and task teams in integrating energy/digital considerations in project design across the energy and digital sectors.
  • Identify synergies and foster collaboration between various digital domains and the Energy sector teams.
  • Effectively communicate to various audiences, including key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Digital-Energy Nexus related strategy development and prepare relevant briefing materials for senior management.
  • Support and manage the energy-digital workstream at a global level, including project coordination and budget management.
