About The Position

At Peregrine Energy, the Senior Developer will lead the origination, advancement, and execution of utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) and grid-critical energy projects from early-stage development through commercial operation. This role is designed for a high-capacity professional who can operate effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, and highly competitive development environment. This individual must be highly organized, detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable leading internal subject matter experts, external counterparties, landowners, consultants, utilities, and regulatory stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in utility-scale battery storage, power markets, infrastructure development, project management, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Environmental Studies, Business, Real Estate, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and drive execution across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of utility-scale project development, including meaningful experience across some combination of site control, interconnection, permitting, engineering coordination, commercial strategy, or project finance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into clear recommendations and present credibly to senior internal stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint capabilities; comfort working with project trackers, data rooms, schedules, and financial or commercial support materials.
  • Ability to make sound decisions with incomplete information, adapt quickly, and lead through complex issues in a fast-moving environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed across the United States.
  • Strong ownership mentality and follow-through.
  • High attention to detail without losing sight of critical path priorities.
  • Ability to operate with urgency while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and aggressive development timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach across technical, commercial, and corporate functions.
  • Commercial judgment and an understanding of how development decisions affect value creation.
  • Commitment to building critical U.S. energy infrastructure in a high-performance team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% in any given year

Responsibilities

  • Lead the advancement of utility-scale BESS and grid-critical energy development projects from origination through notice to proceed, commercial operation, and project handoff, as applicable.
  • Prepare and present project materials, analyses, and recommendations for internal investment and stage-gate approvals, including Site Selection teams and other internal decision forums.
  • Lead coordination with the Land team on site selection, landowner outreach, due diligence, and execution of real estate agreements required to secure and maintain project site control.
  • Direct coordination with the Transmission and Interconnection team on queue strategy, interconnection application submittals, utility engagement, study management, and milestone compliance.
  • Lead projects through environmental review, local permitting, and state-level approval processes in coordination with internal Peregrine teams and outside consultants.
  • Direct coordination with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams on project design development, site layout optimization, constructability considerations, equipment strategy, and long-lead procurement planning.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Finance team to provide, validate, and update project inputs used in underwriting, valuation, capital planning, and investment decision-making.
  • Own project schedules, risk registers, action logs, and development budgets; identify critical path risks early and escalate issues with recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Drive commercial readiness by ensuring development deliverables are sequenced appropriately for origination, financing, construction, and execution needs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal development processes, tools, templates, and reporting disciplines, and help reinforce development execution standards across the platform.
  • Work closely with Market Analytics and Origination teams to evaluate market opportunities, customer demand, and revenue considerations that inform development strategy, project prioritization, and commercial positioning.
  • Lead the preparation of project-specific commercial materials and development inputs for bilateral opportunities, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and structured offtake processes.
  • Support the evaluation, execution, and negotiation of long-term structured transactions with wholesale, utility, C&I, municipal, cooperative, and retail counterparties by providing clear development judgment, schedule credibility, and risk assessment.
  • Conduct research on customer energy procurement strategies, integrated resource planning, and market needs to help shape Peregrine's commercial approach and route-to-market strategy.
