About The Position

The Senior Desktop Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical support for complex issues with computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, electronic mail, and operating systems. The Senior Desktop Specialist functions as the subject matter expert for advanced or complex troubleshooting. The Senior Desktop Specialist coordinates department moves involving computers or desktop equipment. Job Summary: Provides complex technical support in the areas of personal computers and end user computing through direct help and assigned help desk tickets. Provides assistance with computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, electronic mail, and operating systems.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of an Associate degree in Information Technology or other field of study or equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Licensure: Valid drivers license.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience (with degree requirement) or six (6) years (with no degree) in an IT role performing break/fix, installations, and hardware/software upgrades.
  • Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Advanced proficiency in supporting current computer software and hardware technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and providers.
  • Advanced skills in multitasking, time-management and organization.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced technical and operational support for all desktop hardware and software, mobile devices, tablets, and peripheral devices
  • Performs complex technical support, advanced troubleshooting and assistance for ticket resolution
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues for hardware and software
  • Collaborates with desktop analysts for escalation events or incidents
  • Assists vendors to evaluate and support vendor-owned devices
  • Involved in the analysis and installation and rollout of new software packages, upgrades, and new desktop hardware
  • Monitors and tracks completion of service tickets for all department assigned tasks
  • Stays abreast of current technology in a changing environment; Identifies emerging trends and issues
  • Coordinates and performs large scale PC equipment moves and installations
  • Coordinates with collaborating departments for computer or equipment moves
  • Performs installation of new user computers, devices or equipment
  • Configures and installs hardware or software that supports business needs
  • Maintains installation checklists to document installations and setups for user equipment
  • Provides follow up to end users to ensure device installation and moves are completed according to request
