We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Designer/Editor with advanced expertise in motion graphic design, animation, editing, color grading, and audio design. This is a hands-on creative role that also requires strong leadership and communication skills. While this is not a management position and does not oversee other Tank design staff, the role includes mentorship responsibilities and active participation in the Design Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will contribute to weekly critiques, provide creative input, and help uphold and evolve our brand standards.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have had formal training in design/art at trade school or college.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of six years as a Motion Graphic Designer in a professional production environment (broadcast production preferred).
  • Expert level skills in Adobe CC Suite required, specifically After Effects, Premiere and Audition.
  • Demonstrated strong design skills.
  • Demonstrated editing skills.
  • Must have strong motion design experience.
  • Must possess strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to perform under very tight deadlines and act as design team lead.
  • Must possess strong spelling and grammar skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with the Sr. Creative Director, Art Director, Design Production Manager, fellow Sr. Designers, and the full motion graphics team to execute and elevate creative projects.
  • Creates high-quality motion graphics, animations, and visual effects that align with project goals and brand standards.
  • Serves as lead editor on assigned projects, applying advanced editing techniques and suggesting workflow improvements when appropriate.
  • Acts as an alternate point of contact for station, marketing, and corporate-level projects, ensuring consistent communication and creative alignment.
  • May assist in onboarding and training new hires or delegate training responsibilities as needed.
  • Leads creative direction on team projects, pilot initiatives, and high-visibility campaigns, guiding design execution and contributing to overall strategy.
  • Works with a wide range of clients across all TEGNA stations, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of editing, color grading, and audio design to create compelling sizzle reels, trailers, promotional pieces, and long-form testimonials.
