About The Position

FIGS is seeking a Senior Designer to lead design across Outerwear and FIGS Pro, our polished, professional ready-to-wear collection for healthcare providers. This role blends elevated, style-forward design with functional performance - delivering tailored wovens, refined knits, lab coats, and technical outerwear that embody FIGS PRO’s ethos: style supported by utility, comfort, and thoughtful function. You will translate brand DNA into sophisticated, capsule-worthy pieces that complement the broader FIGS ecosystem while meeting the real needs of HCPs in professional settings. Reporting to the VP of Concept & Design, you will drive seasonal creative direction, execute premium product, and shape the future of FIGS Pro and Outerwear as signature pillars of the brand.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in apparel design, including at least 2 years leading or mentoring junior designers.
  • Proven expertise in outerwear, tailored wovens, sweater knits, and premium lifestyle or RTW categories.
  • Ability to design style-forward, polished, modern pieces that meet professional standards while supporting comfort and functional movement.
  • Strong command of silhouette, proportion, construction, and fit with hands-on understanding of pattern making and technical detailing.
  • Exceptional talent for concept development, color, and material innovation with a sharp, modern aesthetic.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive full-cycle design — from initial sketch and prototyping through final production.
  • Confident visual communicator with excellent sketching, illustration, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of consumer and market trends across RTW, workwear, and professional lifestyle spaces.
  • Passion for customer-centric design and a deep respect for the healthcare professional community.
  • Highly organized, solutions-oriented, and comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite; experience with 3D and AI-assisted platforms a plus.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and cross-functional design workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for Outerwear (technical rainwear, insulation, fleece) and FIGS PRO (tailored wovens, sweater knits, lab coats, polished ready-to-wear pieces), delivering refined, modern, style-forward collections grounded in HCP needs.
  • Bring the FIGS Pro ethos to life, designing fashion-led, timeless yet trend-aware capsule pieces that integrate effortlessly with the broader FIGS wardrobe.
  • Partner with the VP of Concept & Design to shape seasonal concepts, narratives, and professional-wear strategy.
  • Research trends, materials, tailoring innovations, and relevant RTW markets to identify whitespace and elevate FIGS Pro’s aesthetic and functional direction.
  • Ideate and execute elevated on-garment branding, including trims, hardware, labels, and subtle identifiers that reinforce sophistication.
  • Create premium design packages - technical sketches, construction details, and spec documentation - with clarity and precision.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Raw Materials, Product Development, and to drive concept-to-creation consistency and storytelling impact.
  • Lead fittings for both categories and provide thoughtful, solution-oriented feedback to ensure exceptional fit, comfort, and quality.
  • Contribute to color, material, and trim direction in partnership with Raw Materials to meet quality, cost, and calendar goals.
  • Manage design calendars, milestones, and handoffs to keep multiple projects on track and aligned.
  • Mentor and inspire junior designers, fostering creativity, curiosity, and collaboration across the team.
  • Partner with cross-category design teams to ensure a cohesive, elevated brand experience across all apparel lines.
