Senior Design Specialist
About The Position
Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Design Specialist to support ongoing operations in Greenville, SC. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. As a trusted partner to government agencies and national laboratories, Omega Technical Services supports some of the nation's most complex and high-impact programs. Through these strategic collaborations, Omega contributes directly to the strength, security, and sustainability of the U.S. Nuclear Security Enterprise.
Requirements
- Must have a minimum of an associate degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred).
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
- Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to specialized (nuclear or other areas) engineering design.
- Background and experience must include drafting/designer experience in engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection or civil.
Nice To Haves
- Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
- Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
Responsibilities
- Proficiency in computer aided design (CAD) with demonstrated experience with computer aided.
- Use drafting applications to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision.
- 3D modeling experience required (S3D preferred).
- Read, interpret and generate design drawings with minimal input from a member of the engineering staff.
- Must have the ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate minor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct junior drafters.
