Summary: We are seeking a Senior Design Specialist to join our dynamic design team. In this role, you will translate concepts into practical and innovative solutions, supporting both design and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with BIM 360, Revit family management, and the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings. Your expertise will help ensure efficient workflows, high-quality designs, and successful project execution.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in BIM 360 and Revit family management.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
  • Experience in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Revit).
  • Knowledge of design principles, ergonomics, aesthetics, and functionality.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to structural integrity, manufacturability, and functionality.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior designers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred, or a technical degree and proven experience (3+ years) in sheet metal weldment and assembly design.
  • In-depth understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Precise manipulation of design tools, materials, and equipment
  • Strong attention to visual details
  • Extended periods of sitting at a computer station
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of lightweight to moderately heavy objects
  • Wearing appropriate PPE, following safety guidelines during design reviews or testing

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with various manufacturing processes and equipment used in sheet metal fabrication is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Revit families and project models within BIM 360.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings to produce accurate designs.
  • Create 2D and 3D models, schematics, and technical drawings of product systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and clients to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities and project requirements.
  • Develop cost estimates and budgets for design projects, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Source materials and work with suppliers to ensure reliable availability.
  • Provide custom design solutions, adapting systems to meet client specifications.
  • Support prototype creation and testing to validate design concepts.
  • Document design changes, approvals, and project progress accurately.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Ensure designs meet quality standards, safety regulations, and applicable certifications.
  • Continuously research and implement design improvements to stay competitive.
