The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Borough Based Jails (BBJ) Division seeks a Senior Design Project Manager. The selected candidate will manage complex design-build capital commitment projects; review proposed projects to determine how and when the work should be performed; work with the BBJ Program Management Consultant (PMC) and Sponsor Agencies to ensure an understanding of project scope, oversee project from conception, through design development to construction completion and close-out. Reporting to the Program Executive, other key responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing deliverable dates to determine schedules that should be adhered to; supervise, coordinate, and direct project's construction management and construction staff, as well as the PMC; appraise the Program Executive of any issues with scheduling, cost, and construction; and liaise between design-builders, the PMC, Sponsor Agencies, regulatory entities, and DDC staff. Other duties include maintaining comprehensive project history files, help coordinating project schedules, addressing construction and design issues, reviewing change orders, and reviewing project correspondence and reports. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for utilizing the agency's technical resources to ensure that the projects meet the Agency's Commitment Plan objectives.

  • Candidates must have six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work.
  • At least two (2) years of experience must have been as an administrative architect.
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility.
  • Inclusion in the 55-a Program for qualified persons with a disability.
