We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our team in the development of complex mechanical and electromechanical components and systems that support next-generation aerospace platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in the design and development of mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Strong background in design analysis, including stress analysis, kinematics, vibration, and fluid mechanics.
  • Proven ability to lead design efforts from concept through production with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with closed-loop systems, fluid power control, servomechanisms, Finite Element Analysis, fracture mechanics, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, NASA, military specifications).
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering complex mechanical systems from concept to production.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary product design team.
  • Experience in proposal development, cost estimation, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of advanced mechanical and electromechanical hardware, including servomechanisms and fluid power control systems.
  • Translate customer needs into technical requirements and conceptual designs through trade studies and proposal development.
  • Perform detailed design analyses including stress, thermal, fracture mechanics, and producibility assessments.
  • Select appropriate materials, fits, finishes, and treatments to meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, reliability, environmental test, and quality engineering to ensure design compatibility and production readiness.
  • Guide drafting personnel and Assembly & Test Technicians throughout the development process.
  • Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders to define design constraints, resolve technical issues, and present design solutions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, including setting priorities and conducting performance reviews when applicable.
  • Support the transition of designs from development to production, ensuring high producibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Represent Moog in technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
