About The Position

Translate internal and external customer requirements into measurable performance criteria and develop technical communications: datasheets, interface control documents, test plans, etc. Design, CAD 3D model and test product prototypes. Perform DfM&A, GD&T & Tolerance stacking analysis for making design effective and reliable within practical manufacturing environment. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards. Maintain and improve existing products through design and competitive analysis resolving existing product's design related manufacturing & quality challenges & Customer issues. Engineering change management for existing product through PLM System (ENOVIA) Systematic approach of problem solving through root cause analysis, DFMEA and related problem-solving tools utilizing Design for Six Sigma Principles. Test plan creation (DVP&R) and work with third party certification agency (UL/CSA/ETL) for test plan sign off and product certification. Lead product performance test execution, including but not limited to thermal performance, short circuit performance, mechanical integrity performance, etc. Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs. Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during development of products and during upgrade of existing products. Provide direction to production employees on technical issues. Represent the product line as a technical consultant in front of Internal and External Customers. Identify technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line in a competitive position. Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three (3) years of engineering or technical experience in design and/or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma and Project Management.
  • Validation testing experience.
  • Familiarity with simulation analysis.
  • Product design experience with 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor is Preferred).
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and engineering problem solving tools.
  • Knowledge of DfM&A & Tolerance stack analysis.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory standards that covers low voltage distribution equipment.
  • Team player and ready to work with cross functional teams to achieve common goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an electromechanical product design role.
  • Prior experience in a value-analysis/value-engineering role.
