About The Position

As a Senior Design Engineer in-the shop, you will be at the intersection of design and manufacturing! In this role, you will support producibility projects, improve communication across teams, deploy structured problem solving on-site, and support the resolution of delivery problems, and more. This role requires cross functional collaboration across Manufacturing, Quality, Mechanical Design, Thermal Design and others. This role requires clear communication skills, influential leadership, a self-starter mentality, as well as the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Must be able to work on-site in Auburn, AL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of design engineering or manufacturing experience

Nice To Haves

  • Turbine airfoils design experience
  • Background in Manufacturing
  • Exposure to Material Review Board (MRB) activities
  • Certification in ASME Y14 or experience with GD&T
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members
